'This will not stand': Air Force resumes teaching on first Black pilots after DEI review

I agree but that isnt racism no matter how much you want it to be.
Now if they were actually hiring the less competant person becasue of race I would agree with you.

It is specifically racism. It is the determination that one candidate is better than the other based on the color of their skin... which is rasist.

Incompetant or less competant people are hired all the time often due to personal connections or just because they act/talk/look in a way thay those hiring like

Hiring people because they are attractive, based on nepotism and hiring based on connections is also less competitive because they also don't select employees based on merit.

Race, family, friendship and looks are all bad basis for hiring because none of them prioritize ability.

(Edit: Unless of course the job requires one of those qualities)

So when you are hiring a 3D modeler you should have been asking if they're gay rather than if they have sufficient 3D modeling expertise?

It's extremely weird that you think people do this.

Repeating this dumb ass straw man over and over doesn't make it less of a straw man.

Shoot, just look at who is running the Pentagon now.

Narrator: People do this.

Billion dollar AAA Gaming companies and Hollywood are in dire straights because this is how they did their hiring.

MAGA's new military motto :

Support the troops (as long as they are a white straight able-bodied male).

*ahem*

"Straight christian nationalist man with the right tattoos."

It's not a straw man. Being faced with two equally qualified candidates and selecting based on skin color is racism because it specifically determines an candidate's value based on skin color.

"Following swift backlash from legislators, retired military personnel, and others, the U.S. Air Force confirmed to USA TODAY Monday it will resume teaching its recruits about the first Black airmen in the nation’s military.

The move comes on the heels of the Air Force confirming Saturday that course instruction about the Tuskegee Airmen − the more than 15,000 Black pilots, mechanics and cooks in the segregated Army of World War II − had been pulled from basic training curriculum.

In addition, military officials confirmed the Air Force had pulled training about the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) − a paramilitary aviation organization of female pilots employed to fly during World War II."

Not sure how you can acknowledge these two groups without dragging DEI into it. Any thoughts?
Yeah, buy into the false narrative of the MAGA'ts. Please not...I distinguish between Republicans, Rube-publicans and MAGA'ts.

Alright, well, you're too far poisoned by the right wing narrative to talk to about this further. I'll leave you with one thought:

Consider the possibility that assessing a candidate's merit is not something that is done with 100% perfect accuracy.

Christians are Christian, News at 11
I can't imagine what inspired Jimmy Carter's family to drop in a symbol that has been completely coopted.

Consider that selecting a candidate based on skill set is more accurate when your primary selection criteria is the candidate's skill set.

Do you think they only teach flying at the Air Force Academy? Do you think all members of the airforce fly jets?

No and no.

Thanks for the full reply.

It isnt deciding one is better it is making sure that everything else being equal we should try to make the workplace resemble the population which is often not the case

I agree the first and foremost should be ability/competency but with regards to looks, friendship family etc.. that is often an unconscious bias that exists whether we want to admit it or not

Because it hasn't been "completely coopted" and that assessment by you is a brain worm fed to you by the Dmeocrat outrage machine.

Also note the floor of the National Cathedral where his casket was set:

It is in fact deciding that one is better than the other, and you have decided that based on skin color.

Friends and family are more conscious decisions, and that might even be justifiable decisions in the grand scheme of things since chemistry in a team is also a valuable thing to select for, and friends and family come with that baked in.

Looks as a criteria not as much, except where the job requires it. Picking the attractive candidate when it's not a requirement is more like lighting a fuse that leads directly to the HR office.

Friends and family can be unconscious bias but yes more often it is conscious.
As to looks that is generally unconscious. Not just attractive it can be more attractive if you have 2 candidates and one is well below average looking the average looking person statistically has a greater chance of getting the position. Doesnt mean the less attractive person cannot get the position just less likely.
Remember that this is a subjective measure what is more or less atrractive to me may be the opposite for you but there are some general societal normes on this. I would consider Taylor Swift attractive, Amy Winehouse less so and even less for Susan Boyle. Doesnt mean others wont have a differnt order for those three but I think the majority would agree,

No it isnt

It is. You are putting a lower value to your company on one candidate based on their race. That is racism.

Pop music is generally a business that values looks, and I'd also argue that the customers for Taylor Swift, Amy Winehouse and Susan Boyle would have different criteria for their choices.

It reminds me of many many years ago watching Luciano Pavarotti being interviewed by Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes and Wallace quoted an article that said, paraphrased, "Luciano Pavarotti's talent has brought the rotund singer the affections of women equal to that of any rock star" to which Pavarotti replied "Then I feel sorry for the rock stars."

Not sure how you can acknowledge these two groups without dragging DEI into it. Any thoughts?

Did you even read your own link?

"The block in which these lessons were taught included DEI material, which was directed to be removed,” Robinson released in a statement Monday morning. “We believe this adjustment to curriculum to be fully aligned with the direction given in the DEI executive order."

By using your brain and exercising a little common sense, something people suffering from TDS, in their zeal to solidify their own bias and prove their case that Trump and “MAGA Americans” are bigots, seem to have a hard time doing. 🤷‍♂️

While they happened to be “black Americans” or “female Americans,” you can emphasize first and foremost that they were Americans who loved their country even if it didn’t always appear to love them, and they more than earned their place in its history despite odds that seemed at times to be insurmountable. Due to obstacles placed in their path, they not only had to be good, but they had to be among the best—and they were!

No you are not doing that unless you believe that other ethnicities are inherently inferior

Looks do play an important factor in music industry but I used those three as an example because they are well known If I picked 3 random people I know you would have no clue who they were.

Sounds like someone at the Air Force may be moving on to the private sector.
Sounds more like someone isn't taking any of Trump's stupid bullshit. The military leaders do not like Trump after he poured insults onto them, including disabled vets, the deceased and Gold Star families, and claimed he was better informed on all military matters than the professionals running things. You'll be seeing more of these challenges to Trump's idiocy, guaranteed.
