This Pandemic Has Brought Out the Worst in Us!

Would ovens and gas chambers work for you? Asking for a friend.

Holocaust denial is quite the retort. Wtf is with your Holocaust denial? You really need to do that?

Is it just stupid or is it on purpose to support nazis? Please, explain to us why you feel a need to shit on Jewish people.

It struck me as callous & inhumane, particularly in wanting to withhold treatment when sick.

You are not withholding treatment, you are giving treatment to someone else, Someone more deserving.

We are forced to make tough choices all the time.

Would ovens and gas chambers work for you? Asking for a friend.

Nope. I am not going to stand in their way if they want to jump off of a cliff, though.

That's FREEDOM.

And the best and it easy to distinguish it from the worst.

If people have the option between a free vaccination and a $1,000,000 hospital bill they can't pay and they choose the latter, then what happens happens.

Unusual for me, I have no sources, no references . . . just pure opinion:

I recently saw a post, where it was offered that it might be better that unvaccinated Americans die-off, to slow the proliferation & spread of the virus, and that we should recoup the expenses of their hospitalizations & deaths from their estates. The post was inclusive and quite detailed about how we could benefit from our fellow Americans dying, and how the dying essentially deserved their fate.

I was going to address this scathingly, and even wrote a medium length reply to that effect. But, I stopped before I sent it, and I'm glad I did! I otherwise very much like this poster, and their thoughts reflect what has become not uncommon thought & attitude here and in society. So rather than reply to them, calling them out, I decided to post an excerpt of my previously penned reply here!

It's heresy to speak of our fellow Americans like this.

But unfortunately, this pandemic has really brought-out the worst in us!

For a long time, I blamed America's lack of coming-together on our having grown soft, lazy, and self-centered & selfish over the years. We haven't had a national existential threat since WW-II/Cold War. We've lived a life of bounty. And, I naively believed that affluence, abundance, softness, & lack of threat, led us to grow like this. I believed an existential threat would bring us together, and snap us out of it.

Well, we are now facing that threat! And boy, was I wrong! We failed. Miserably. And I am not just disgusted, but very ashamed of us.

So, there we go. I'm not sure what to say? We are at each other's throats, with quite a few seemingly believing they would be better off if the others, their fellow Americans, would succumb to death.

And, I've seen this rhetoric displayed from those I otherwise consider very good posters! We're not just talking about newbs passing through on their way to the Ban Hammer!

Oh well, it is what it is. This is the society we've become. The 'Greatest Generation' is long gone. And to be honest, we ain't looking too 'great' anymore. Very sadly.
Unfortunately I have to agree with you. The Pandemic has brought the worst in us. If nothing else, the mask and vaccination debates have even divided us more than before. Something so basic as protecting the lives of others at no additional cost to ourselves has been a sign of "the worst that exists in us".

To a certain degree, it is understandable as by nature humanity is social and having to distance ourselves has been emotionally destructive. I have had to give up much because of the pandemic and none of that has been a positive. It has been all about survival of myself and of others. Being apart from friends and even family has been very depressing, especially at my age where I do not have many years left.

Nonetheless, it is what it is and we all have to try to overcome the problem and make the best of it. By the same token, in my own personal life, the pandemic has been the worst thing I have ever experienced.

I understand, but I was commenting on the broader meaning of the phrase and how many people view it. If the phrase was 'the great unity for defense' or something, no problem.

Fair enough.

I could care less if a person decides not to vaccinate.

It is their life, and none of my business.

Should a person with an active case of hepatitis C work in a kitchen of a restaurant? One that the general public will eat at.

Note there have been cases of people contracting Hep C when staff cut themselves and bled on their food

How about Typhoid Mary an asymptomatic carrier of Typhoid who infected quite a few people, what should be done in such case’s.

Contagious diseases effect more than just the person infected. As they can infect plenty of other people.

Where should one person’s rights end and others begin?

Stay home if your a paranoid pajama boy liberal.

Life goes on.

I'm vaxed and boosted. I do what I want. You imagine people are scared to excuse your moronic perspective.

You're killing people. You like it. It makes you feel powerful.

Normal people are disgusted by such a display.

You could be a spreader just as easily.

;)

until they get someone else sick.

But they like it. It's the first power they've felt in their sorry lives. For them, it's revenge for a pathetic existence.

Anti-vaxers are basically school shooters.

I'm vaxxed...............................been vaxxed.

You are a spreader as well. Enjoy that thought.

You employ misinformation as a means of getting back at people. Of course you protect yourself, but you want to harm others.

Follow the science.

You can spread it at home and in public.

Prove me wrong.

Who do you think you're fooling? No one is as stupid as you imagine. Your display is so pathetic.

Not getting vaccinated is ignorant. Encouraging others to not get vaccinated is malevolent.

America’s issue is that many people can not empathize with anyone else. It is about them and they’re experience.

They don’t fear a disease, therefore it is not an issue. No concern about the elderly or people in poor health. They can not see how their own parents or grandparents might be impacted, or just don’t care.

They don’t experience racism, and as such to them it does not exist.

The next aspect is that the US is devolving into smaller and smaller tribes. In which their tribe is the only one that matter, beating the other tribes is the driving force, not if the policies are good overall just that the other tribe does not win.

The calls for freedom and rights, applies only to them, not the whole. People in many cases want to restrict the rights of others because they do lot like what the right is ( gay marriage or homosexuality in general, gun rights, drug legalization etc) they want their “ rights” and want to restrict rights of others because they make them feel uncomfortable

Many support stop and frisk policies only because they are not impacted by them, if they were stopped at 10% the rate of other groups they would be storming government buildings ( mask mandates show this as a very high probability)
