They have no future for mass transportation and every major car company is now focussing on electric for the future.
Most of the large manufacturers will stop producing them by 2030 and new models will stop being produced in the next year or so.

Cars are so expensive to develop now that they're designed for a global market and because ice cars are banned from sale in Europe by 2030 that will force companies to make only ice cars as they don't want to exclude themselves from the huge EU and UK market.

As of now, there has been no EU agreement even on 2035. As a whole, the EU has 10X more IC vehicles than the UK. Don’t be surprised if they take much longer to get onboard with EV’s.

The age of internal combustion vehicles is ending, but not as soon as many think.

And EV’s are not the final solution either. The pollution generated in producing EV’s is greater than in producing IC vehicles, and battery disposal is complicated and costly.

When literally hundreds of millions of EV battery packs have been used up, it will be a much, much more complicated and costly process.

Thankfully, the automotive industry is open to new ideas and investing in research. Electric, solar, hydrogen, or a combination of the three, or some other low/non polluting is likely where we’ll end up at.
