I saw this ad today for the first time and honestly thought that this was satire of some type, that there was going to be some sort of gotcha moment, just something to indicate that the ad wasn't actually presenting what they were claiming to present. Oh how wrong.

So my question is how the denizens of DP view these ads? Are they spot on? Are they "I'd buy it but that was stupid"? "Okay, but wouldn't actually buy that"? "Has to be satire"?

My reaction was, "Thank God I don't have to put up with that lady" She gives me the same creepy vibe I get from Concerned Women for America. I felt the same way when Up With People performed at my high school in the 60's.

Aw, wow, um, ahhh, um, well.......... ok, that's um, well, oh, sheet, I just can't find the words. But, hey, thanks, I will be spreading this around for laughter today! Lot's of new meme's in there.

Creepy right-wing homeschooling vibes all-around.

Well, here's their customers. So, yeah, I think this will sell.

I didn't need any books to teach my two sons about capitalism and the law of supply and demand. But for parents who aren't knowledgeable enough to present the fact to their children, perhaps these books are a good thing.

I don't see anything wrong with someone selling books to help those parents and I don't see anything wrong with the marketing tactics used in that commercial. This all seems rather normal to me...even though I try to stay away from marketing tactics in general.

What, exactly, do you find to be a problem with what the ad was presenting?

This ad is exclusively aimed at people with... Issues.

The hyperbole and ridiculous claims (schools are teaching kids socialism, peppa pig as a russian communist?), the very nature of the ad comes off as completely over the top and stupid.

I'm sure there are Up With People videos on YouTube. The kids can sing along during music time. They have hand motions and everything. 😁

None of those ads ever come up on my Youtube. I guess that's because I don't watch dumbass conspiracy or rando youtuber talking head videos. Although I clicked on this one so maybe now they will.

Showed up on mine (while watching a Daily Show montage, of all things) likely from occasionally watching some rightwing video that someone here has posted.

I'm not interested in the product, but I don't see any problem with that ad in connection with selling that product. Production value wasn't great, but it was way better than the Snuggie commercial. Heck, it was even ethnically inclusive.

That's kind of how marketing works sometimes, doesn't it?
