Of that I have no doubt. You want us to know you had such control over them that they wouldn't even move unless you said so. I guess I just don't value my dogs for what they can do for me or how they can make me feel powerful or whatever. Anyway, I believe you treated them well so it's all good.
Being an alpha either is or isn't, it's not matter of how one feels or wants to feel. If I wasn't an alpha, I had no business having dogs larger than myself all half breed german shepherds. Those are the facts. You can try to make it seem like something else and awful, but it simply isn't. Dogs need a leader, that's their way, I have to be that leader, or some other human adult for them to be what their jobs were first and foremost, our protectors. Untrained dogs in the backyard and on chains and leashes are of no use, in my opinion, and usually what I would consider mistreated.

BTW, implying some buttitch attitude about people who are the alpha controllers of dogs, you're impugning a hell of a lot of our servicemen and our police. Are you going to try to tell them they have some ego trip to satisfy? Or is it just cuz I'm a female? Just sayin'.

Believe me, I get that you see no value to dogs outside what they can do for you. That's your call. I don't have to agree with you.

So you must think K-9 dogs are of no value outside of what they can do for the community to their handlers? Hmm. Well then, you've proven your opinion isn't worth worrying about. Thanks anyway. You clearly have no clue how close a dog and trainer/handler become in order for a dog to be that good.

You totally got me. I'm implying you have the attitude your butt itches. Seriously though, I don't know if think you need to get around the word censor for the word "bitch" (I'm assuming that's what you mean) but you don't. FWIW

For all the itchy trigger fingers out there... how do you apologize to your wife when you find out that you just shot and killed your brother-in law, who you didn't recognize who came over drunk after a fight with his wife and let himself in?

Good point.

There is an armed intruder in your house while you sleep, what would you do? I would make sure he was dead, but I live in a state where the homeowner can protect himself.

He can have whatever he wants, I own nothing worth dying or killing for and I don't think that some guy is going to break into my house with the intent of killing me for no motive whatsoever. I mean sure someone might break into your home to steal your stuff, there's profit motivation, but to break in just to kill someone wheres the profit in that? Even if I owned a gun, which I don't right now although I used to, I'd still call the police and hunker down wherever I'm at or seek an opportunity to leave and I'd only use the weapon if I thought my life was truly in danger and I'd never intentionally confront the man.

My goal is to live, not die or kill for my flat screen TV.

Offer him milk and cookies.

Burglars do not have guns here usually. Hope you get to this point someday and be released from such gun promoting behaviors too.

And you are completely clueless about the required training for a true K9 dog.
You have proven that your opinion is based on watching tv shows and thinking that you are capable of doing the same thing.
You don't buy your statuesque 'K9' automatic killer dog on ebay and take it home and wait.

Spin again.

Living in NJ if I had a gun with the permits and shoot the guy to kill I could get sued by family members if he is wounded can get sued by the intruder himself

That's what I love about my state's laws, once the domicile line is breached there is no "if" in the prosecution's case, it is immediately self defense.

Is that post-Katrina?

Except in countries where guns are banned the criminals are more brash and more commonly break into homes when someone is home.

He'd have to make a lot of noise to get in, which would wake me up. I wouldn't know if he was armed or not, but I'd give him a fair warning to make a very speedy exit from the premises. If he's dumb enough to stay, and depending on whether anybody else is in the house, he's either going to be answering to a .357 magnum or 7.62x39mm.

What is the exception here that does not fits to such countries? Which are those countries?

Maybe you can pray real hard while hunkering down and waiting for the police.

Self defense has nothing to do with protecting your tv, but protecting the life of self and family.

If you choose to offer that protection by a phone call and the hope that criminals decide not to eliminate witnesses to their crime, then knock yourself out.

You might also prepare yourself in the event that you have to beg armed and angry men for your life.

A heart-rendering speech might buy you a few minutes, if you are really lucky.

Others of us will have a solid hand in controlling our our own destiny as much as possible.

Some of us are willing to sacrifice our own lives for our families, and you can be damn sure that anyone trying to harm said families will go before or with us first.

Proper planning prevents piss poor performance.

Gee, another gun bait thread. Yawn.
Gee I dont know, wait till he is done raping my wife and see if he needs a towel.

I'd make my husband get the gun and go shoot the intruder while I called the cops. I have no doubt he would shoot to kill.

I picked get my gun and shoot to kill, because that was the closest option even though it's not exactly what I'd do.

Any adult intruder who comes on my well posted property without invitation will be chewed to pieces by my dogs, he'll never get close to my house.

I hope those dogs are registered, and are properly stored in a safe.

Well even in super red Idaho, CCWs are warned only to shoot to save lives, never to save property. And in my heart, property just isn't worth the repercussions of shooting someone, legal, personal, psychological, this idea you can shoot someone with all proper justification and not be effected is bizarre.

Who keeps their valuables in the front of the house?

So, you all just hand your stuff over to anyone that breaks in. Good idea. In my home, you better be ready to go from thier to killer in the blink of an eye.

Wait a minute.

I wake up to someone obviously in my home in the middle of the night. How do I know he's armed?

In Illinois, that most certainly is "the rub." And how did he get in? In Illinois, he'd better have kicked in the door rather than picked the lock. Ridiculous.
