Once again it is moving in on the south.. Like the red sea, snakes, exodus? Now these folks who continually get nailed live in the bible belt. Many of them believe in the "wrath of God" Soo what do you if your onbe of them & or not think of all this? Like if you believe are ya saying "We must be doing something very wrong? Boy we sure got are sugar daddy in the sky really pissed now. I'mthinking of that preacher & his daughter of the Westboro Babtist church..

I don't really believe in some mystical being shooting down hot, firey doses of judgment to get us to "behave". I do, however, support the idea of balance and karma. In that sense, I think those Westboro jackasses will most certainly get what's coming to them. It only takes one angry, grief stricken, temporarily insane family member of a dead vet...

I run a motorcycle club & the patriot riders try to take care of funerals. I also find it interesting that when Katrina hit many said thery deserved it. But noow the wrath could be coming to their town. Poetic justice? Also I cry everytime I see the videos of katrina. Brain Willians of channel 5 was there & he said it seemed like he was in a 3rd world country.

I don't really get riled up over much, but to see entire towns, states, or countries destroyed by natural disasters only to hear somebody say, "they deserved it"....that'll piss me off every time. How can anybody say hundreds or thousands of people living in close proximity leading separate lives are all bad enough to deserve total destruction?

Or when George Bush & his mother dismissed them like the are lesser creatures. Lack of empathy.

This doesn't seem to actually have anything to do with religion.

Depends how you look at it.. Bush's claim to be Christians, also at times one thought will leads to another. I call it progressive thinking!

The wrath of god implies that god is actively focusing its intention on harming us. I don't believe that to be true.

When bad things happen, it is us attaching the notion of "badness" to them. Any situation can be look at from a positive light.

God has nothing to do with the notion of wrath.

I agree with you; however some folks believe in a god that does give us his wrath. It's like saying "it's God's will"

I have sometime wondered if the reason Hurricanes and tornados seem to target the religious portions of our nation is punishment for perverting the christians religion.. Not to many christians, and looking at their voting record, don't seem to vote for or care if the poor are taken care of and the needy are helped.. I do believe that was the teachings of Christ.. So how exaxtly does the Bush tax cuts fit in with the teachings of Christ?? Or the economic ideas of Ryan?? The hatred for your fellow americans..

I don't believe in god and I know there is a natural explination for the Tornados and Hurricanes.. But it at least makes you go.. Hmmmmmmm....

That movie was indescribably boring. Natasha was the only thing that held me in the theater long enough to see the end, and I still almost fell asleep.

I guess we will agree to disagree. a guy in my suite sophomore year was a fan and said he was going to the 7PM showing at the campus screening at the Law School, being bored (my girlfriend was in NYC visiting with her French domiciled older sister) so I went-and sat through three showings. I thought it was one of most mesmerizing films I had ever seen-from the stunning descent of the conquistadors down the mountains, to the black humor (that man is a head taller than me---that can change, CHOP) to the aryan purity bit at the end

BTW Nastassah Kinski was not in the movie

HIs daughter in the film was played by Cecilia Rivera-her only film role

Helena Rojo (Mexican)-a real stunner-played the leader's mistress-her walking into the jungle is reference to a legend of a white noblewoman becoming a queen and mother to a native tribe

Do what? Now waitaminute... its been a long long time, but still...

My buddy insisted on describing how the movie was made and all the trouble they had, and how Klaus tried to walk out at least once, and the director pulled a gun on him and demanded "Act!" But I'm sure Nastasha was there...

I heard that the film was made under severe hardships due to the hot bug infested amazon river basin. KK threatened to walk off the sat and Herzog pulled a revolver and said if K2 ruined the film Herzog would commit suicide. K2 said go ahead but Herzog stuck the gun in Kinski's face and said he would kill Kinski first apparently at the Cannes film festival-where WH won, they mentioned that not only was herzog willing to die for his art, he was willing to kill one of germany's leading actors

I also heard (don't recall which film) that the set crew threatened to quit due to Herzog driving them like slaves. One story had it he promised to eat his shoes if they did the work-the other story was if they completed the work on time he'd pay them to build a tower for a couple hours and he would then jump off it no matter how high they had built it and he honored his promises

KK was perfect as Don Aguirre-a paranoid schizo playing a paranoid schizo

Oh, I won't argue that it had its points... after all, I still remember it 25 years later, and frankly there aren't many films that memorable.

On the whole though, I think it could have been a bit shorter. Herzog made me "feel their exhaustion" a bit too literally.

the ending scene, the haunting music, the zooming camera into the raft, the desolation and isolation-one of the greatest ever IMHO
