The worlds newest dictator

On the watch list is a group called: Continuity Irish Republican Army. How is this different from the IRA?

They're a splinter group that rejected the peace deal that the IRA had with the Brits. They think they are continuing the goals of the original IRA by murdering innocent people.

Yes this is the problem these organization have all throughout history. The IRA and the ETA have morphed from freedom fighters into armed gangs who are robbing for their own use no matter what they say or believe. Remember in our own history William Clarke Quantrill. He started out as a fighter for the Southern cause of cession and in the end it was just another gang of bandits that on top of that spawned both the James gang and the Younger gang.

I believe that very soon these "false profits" if Islam, the fundamentalist militants will soon start falling into that class. At least I hope so because that will make their eradication easier.

Well done.

So socialist indigenous leader Evo Morales has won the Bolivian elections by the largest margin since democracy was established in the country in 1982. How long before the same rabidly right-wing US sources quoted throughout this thread start finding a way (through misinformation of course) to paint him as a dictator too? This is merely the latin american masses doing what they would have done 30 years ago if murderous dictators funded by the CIA hadnt been employed against them - vote for someone who represents the huge numbers of poor rather than an elite that enrich themselves by collaborating with robber-baron multinationals - nicaragua, ecuador and mexico are next. lucky the neocons took their eye off the ball in their quest to conquer the middle east and their distraction allowed some self-determination to take place in their backyard. one can only hope that the covert efforts they will no doubt currently be cooking up to destabilise these progressive governments - in case they provide a good example to others to follow suit - will fail this time round.

Hopefully we kill him quick since he's publicly stated that he's going to be a nightmare for the U.S. and has declared that he will legalize cocaine production and nationalize the oil and natural gas industries of Bolivia.

REALLY? Legalize coke? Let's get this guy in congress!

Some stupid junkies OD, big whoop. Go Darwin. Better than kids getting shot, and cops dealling, in my opinion.

Wether the man is a maniac or not your statement is totally irresponsible. Just the idea that you mention is in opposition to what our code of conduct is all about. You sound like Pat Robertson. I find it amazing that a person who claims to be civilized and rational can make a statement like this.

been reading the famously grounded-in-reality Miami media a bit too much again Titus? An indian leader elected for the first time in a majority-indian country? what is the world coming to? he has specifically said he will crack down on cocaine production and trafficking (although as a self-proclaimed libertarian such things shouldnt bother you too much right?), he just wants to stop the crackdown on coca production, which is used traditionally by the locals as it has been for hundreds of years, long before the spanish military conquest - and the later US economic conquest of the country. This crackdown has caused widespread poverty, misery and death - but why should a few indians be allowed to grow their traditional crops if a powerful military from thousands of miles away doesnt want them to eh? Anyway, families in some areas are already legally allowed to grow coca on a percentage of their land - so it isnt really much of a change, he just intends to extend the waiver across the country. If this is America's nightmare, the curtailing of a wasteful war that has destroyed countless lives in Bolivia and saved none in the US, which has seen no reduction in drug usage, then bring it on. A big fuss has also been kicked up about his intended nationalisation of the countries gas reserves. While I would see no problem in a country's extremely impoverished people being the main ones to profit from its bountiful resources, he isnt actually intending to go this far if you look beyond the rhetoric - he merely wants to renegotiate the extraction contracts in order to get a bigger cut for Bolivia - understandable when the contracts were negotiated under previous governments that sold out the interests of the nation for their own enrichment, essentially being in the pay of the energy companies - while his countrymen for the most part remained barely able to eat. Crazy stuff huh? Titus, with comments like those expressed above you have proved yourself to be the hypocrite that I suspected, common amongst the ideological extremities found in Miami.

The attitude, that democracy is good so long it serves USA interest have gotten USA into alot of trouble and still are...

exactly. America serving its own interests is unfortunately to be expected, hypocrisy and double standards about democracy are less excusable.
