For the first time in decades, The Washington Post will not endorse a candidate in this year’s presidential election, the newspaper’s publisher announced Friday. <snip>

They lean left, right? <---- see what I did there?

They will not be endorsing any candidates in the future either.

I think I have heard of other newspapers doing the same thing. I think I'll Google if there are any others.

Good thing? Bad thing? Not a thing?

I actually think it's a good thing for large influential media to not endorse candidates as a matter of editorial policy.

The WP gave up after they posted very rational reasons to vote for HRC in 2016.....................they learned thAT TOO many Americans are just plain too dumb to waste their time time anymore......

Could be real bad, if they're doing it out of fear.

Pretty certain other folks may be in that same boat.

Canceled my subscription, did the same to NYT over their inability to fairly cover the genocide in Gaza.
Wapo is especially galling since they have been using the tagline "Democracy dies in darkness".

They're scared.

I agree, but I don't think that's the reason they're refusing to endorse.

Agreed, I imagine they are refusing to endorse for the same reason Microsoft, Ford, Trader Joe's and Best Buy are refusing to endorse a candidate. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing so.

True confession:

Back when I was onstage, I always told the boys in the band to keep their politics out of social media. I told them, "If you make your politics known, half of your following will applaud you for them and the other half will turn their backs and shoot you the finger. Buh-bye. You do not have enough following to alienate half of them. You need them all or we be back to playing at The Bowlegged Bean for free beer and fifty bucks a night. So S.T.F.U."

The libbos in the band seemed to understand my message and stayed out of the fracas. The Trumper's, well, not so much.

Well, that's one way...

If I could quit Amazon in a way that they would be aware of it, I'd do so. Same if I had Prime.

Why is it mainly women who are showing courage????

This could be interesting if it pans out.
