The U.S. boycott remains strong. Why many Canadians are digging in their heels

I will take your word for it.

But knowing the American palate I'll stick with British imports, thanks.

Leave one of those slices out in the sun

Ants won't even eat it

LMAO!

Is this true?

OLD NEWS.

Typically American....dated information, in this case decades old. Quebec is now just about the most pro-Canada province.

The question since the year 2000 has been is Alberta on board? 20% are ardent separatists.

US Canada watchers know that if Alberta goes, Canada will become the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. British Columbia is rising to second place economically. IF, and I stress IF separation is really on the table BC will go first. We already have the "out clause" inscribed in our constitution agreement and BC has far,far too much to gain by going direct with her customers.

Ottawa taxes the shit out of us and we get NOTHING in return. 40% of our economy is based on maritime transport and Ottawa won't subsidize ferry costs unlike the Eastern Provinces. Separation is quiet but... widespread and unlike the rest of Canada is not in any way culturally base...its 100% economic.

If we go, so does Alberta.

Interesting. Well, I was recounting my experience when last up in Montreal, Quebec City, and Charlevoix. Yes, it was a long time ago.

Alberta & Quebec. Couldn't get much more diametrically opposed!
Alberta likes to think themselves the center of the universe and it annoys them to no end that Quebec actually is.

One thing Alberta has going for it today is that they've stripped Quebec of the mantle of Canada's biggest whiners.

Sorry, my bad ... "spending". Not "regulations".
We're told it's spending cuts that gut the Government.
Carney said "Cutting unnecessary red tape is essential to unlocking Canada's full economic potential."
I guess cutting unnecessary red tape is off the table after all?

When you start making sense I'll resume paying attention.

First you claim he's cut spending, HURTFULLY so....which is an outright lie!

Then you claim he's unilaterally cut regulations,,,the only problem with that is he can't. We're not a dictatorship.....regulations are a matter of the "Privy Council" which gives the prime minister permission to make changes.

Not everyone has a ****ed up dictatorship-in-disguise government. Some countries are "parliamentary democracies." That means the government has to answer to someone beyond the voter.

You live in a dictatorship where the dictator can have anyone he wants imprisoned. And does. A dictatorship where every word is a lie!

Anymore Americans forget their president cannot tell the truth! Every ****ing word is a lie!!!!!!!!

So keep pointing the finger of accusation as four more point back at you

This is a perfect example of the Canadian reaction I mentioned. It's been highly dramatic from the first second Trump began discussing tariffs. Not only highly dramatic but comically - how dare Trump include Canada in his trade reset plan because Canada is "special".

You are avoiding my question, do you think Canadians who are getting laid off due to Trump's tariffs should be happy about that?

Perhaps someday, you will work out that Trump is merely trolling your leaders. He does not have the authority to annex Canada on his own, either as a state or territory. Canada would first have to petition to become a US state or territory and then it would have to go through congress before it ever makes it to the president's desk.

Is Trump the President or a 13 year old boy on 4chan?

LMAO!

We left a part of a slice out one night while campaign. While bears are the concern, we woke up to find this piece bent over a rock, like it had melted with several trapped, dead ants sicking to what they call "cheese". The fact they died while trapped in food was not lost on us.

Never eaten one since.

The US does not depend on trade with Canada, and Canada should not depend on trade with the US. More Canadian self-reliance will be a positive.

Look that is certainly a good idea Canada, but I think logistics make trickier than you would assume. I doubt you factor in logistics when you post here. It's not like the US just giving Canada free money.

It was a really long time since I was up there, and back then Calgary was a sleepy small city. Believe it or not, back then Calgary didn't even have a pizzeria! My relatives never heard of pizza. Never tasted it. We looked in the phone book, and true to their word - there was nothing! Hard to believe, huh? They came with us back to the states, and the first stop back home was pizza!

I don't think it can be underestimated the phenomenal growth that took place in Alberta - especially Calgary. Like I said, in my lifetime Calgary once only had 300K population. Now look at it?

Haha! Funny stuff.

Though I suspect the ants perished due to being entrapped.

And?

Wow, that's a leap! Not surprised it came from you.

We aren't hurting.

We aren't hurting.

RIGHT!

Tell that to your countrymen!

There has NOT BEEN ONE DAY since Trump's first tariff announcement that a Blaine, Wsshington business person hasn't been whining and sniveling snot all over the TV Cameras. FFS you'd think it was ****ing Pearl Harbor all over again.

Never heard suck whining and weeping blubbering and bullshit. Big ****ing deal, nine shitty little mom and pop stores bankrupt!!! And now Bellingham is all gaa making commercials BEGGING for our money !!!!

The City of Buffalo is planning to declare bankruptcy and Vermont wants to separate!

You're hurting. But its just the ****ing start! Our boycotts have even had an effect yet!!!

Americans have no ****ing clue what a game changer Trump has been.

We're not your friends anymore..............

The bully wanted a fight....he's got one.

I’m sure the rental property owners, theme park operators, and seashore boardwalk owners are second guessing their voting for Trump. Between the rainy weather up and down the east coast and the lack of Canadian tourists will put some in the poor house.

The reality is that Neither Canada nor Mexico have been abiding by that treaty.

BULL SHIT!

Show your proof

Where are the interventions. If we have done so there are reciprocal actions you can take.

Where are they?

Where is the official complaint.

Always with ****ing Americans its lies, lies, lies after, the fact.

You have ENORMOUS power to counter and trade infractions and Trump IS NOT the man to let ANYTHING pass...let alone without comment.

That post is so ****ing desperate!

Calgary's growth was amazing and the remarkable thing is that they had two sudden growth spurts. Now they're having a third.

Their old moniker of "Cow town" certainly doesn't fit any more.
