We know who they are and what they stand for. They're Trump loving, angry white males, a handful of which already plotted to kidnap a sitting governor.

In a country where gun ownership and firearms training are seen by the far right as inalienable, all-American freedoms, the military is a ripe breeding ground for disaffected men looking for individual empowerment, a sense of belonging, and just such training. In fact, a recent New York Times investigation claims that veterans and active-duty military members make up more than a fifth of the membership of America’s 300 anti-government, pro-Trump “militia” groups. According to a 2019 survey by the Military Times, about a quarter of active-duty service members reported witnessing signs of white nationalist ideology among their fellow soldiers, including racist and anti-Semitic slurs and homemade explosives shaped like swastikas.

Racists armed to the teeth, most of whom have spent their lives salivating for a guy like Trump to come along to trigger their fetish for a New Confederacy and the chance to kill or die in America's 2nd Civil War.

This is not far fetched.

IMO, we will rue the day when we failed to repeal the 2nd Amendment.

Hmm... repealing part of the BoR is hardly likely to lessen the (currently remote?) possibility of an armed rebellion.

Cal, I'm the first to admit that I'm naive (sp?) about things like this. I really don't know any of that type, or if I do, they keep it to themselves. But I have a feeling that a lot of those militia types enjoy showing off. Think a modern version of Barney Fife. I'm not saying they aren't sincere in their beliefs, but I think most of them would back down without looking like they are backing down, that is, show off the guns, then slowly back away while still threatening violence, and later say they accomplished what they wanted to. Again, I might be wrong, but I really hope I'm right.

Please look closely at that picture. Who would pull out a gun like that and act like they are "defending" their freedom while that child is in the background? If they are going to pull out guns like that, they need to get rid of the children. It just doesn't make any sense. (And yes, cops have guns around children, but they keep them safely holstered.)

Yes, Guy, as much as I hate applying that label to people who honestly think they are defending their country, I think I have to agree with you, as that picture, itself, can be terrorizing.

To be fair, I have to say that the man in the picture is aiming the gun toward the ground, which is the correct thing to do. Also, he might be a nice guy who has a good sense of humor and all the guys like him. He might also give to charity, attend church, and who knows, maybe his gun isn't even loaded. Rittenhouse acted in self defense. All three targets were/are ex-convicts, trying to murder a teenage boy, so **** them anyway.

Those that have a right to own a gun, DO NOT have the right to use them to intimidate or even to create a buzz. The minute you use your gun for political purposes, it is DOMESTIC TERRORISM. They should be taken away from those that do so.
