The Swedish experiment of doing remarkably little about Covid-19

Why show data for that one week, what about for the entire period?
So what about it? Where is your link to that data?

LOL You do know that is a lie right?

Sure initially and then the other countries with their lock downs cought up. Again it is very simple. The lock down only slightly delayed the illness and deaths. Then the lock down countries had a second and third wave of deaths and ended up in the exact same boat as Sweden but with massive debt.

Yes I want a link as well.
The Swedish COVID-19 approach: a scientific dialogue on mitigation policies
In conclusion, Sweden experienced relatively fewer deaths per population unit than most other high-income countries that implemented stricter lockdown measures. It is concerning that some scientists who advocated for stringent measures seem to disregard real-world data and cling to their version of reality. The ability to learn from mistakes and acknowledge that hypotheses may be wrong is essential for future pandemic preparedness. This, coupled with careful analysis, is crucial for developing effective strategies in the face of future outbreaks.

I really liked Anders Tegnell’s approach to the pandemic. He approached it very humbly and was transparent about failures and admitted it was a learning process. He exuded the scientific method. Many of his contemporaries hid behind their appeal to authority.

I bet if Sweden had to do it over again, they would out perform all European countries while the other countries would do exactly the same thing and have exact the same results.

Sweden excess death rate during the pandemic was the lowest in Europe.
Excess Deaths = Reported Deaths – Expected Deaths.
Cumulative excess deaths percent

Sweden 4.4
Norway 5.0
Denmark 5.4
Finland 8.7

Sweden beat all the Scandinavian countries. Its approach resulted in a lowest excess mortality rate overall, a great achievement.

Many Governments demanded the remove of numerous articles and post from social media because they were misinformation and disinformation, but those post ended up as true, while the post by governments that were in fact false were left up as trustworthy. Seems like a coordinate attack on human freedom.

Martin Kulldorff, PhD, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, is one of the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration, which encourages governments to lift lockdown restrictions on young and healthy people while focusing protection measures on the elderly. The Declaration was censored on social media, pressure by the Biden administration supporting lockdowns and other pandemic strategies.

Francis Collins, former NIH director, admitted that mistakes were made during the covid pandemic with regard to lockdowns that disrupted people’s lives, shut down the schools and ruins the economy. Four years later the anti-lockdown was vindicated. Censorship is the antithesis of democracy & science. Barrington Declaration was the way to go.

Yes.... Let's have more people die.

Got it.

I know I played the right hand and tried to warn everyone what the government was doing. I have no sympathy for those who refused to listen.

It was a very, very bad idea to give the narcissist Anthony Fauci so much power. It went to the little cluckers head.

Maybe soon I will be able to forgive him because its the right thing to do.

Your OPINION was noted.

And it was mocked.

Rightfully so.

Abstract

Aim

Sweden initially chose a different disease prevention and control path during the pandemic than many other European countries. In June 2020, the Swedish Government established a National Commission to examine the management of COVID‐19 in Sweden. This paper summarizes, and discusses, its findings.

Methods

Three reports published by the Commission were analyzed. The first focused on the care of older people during the pandemic. The second examined disease and infection transmission and control and health care and public health. The third updated the first two reports and also covered economic aspects, crisis management and public communication.

Sweden and the other Nordic countries have much in common in their way of life, history, climate, social and economic model. Sweden population of 65 years of age and above is around 20%, which accounted for a large proportion of covid death. It had a migrant population of 2.55 million of which 2 million are living in crowded conditions, much higher than neighboring Denmark and Finland, and 6% larger than Norway, that accounted for 40% of covid deaths.

Swedish Public Health Agency counted as Covid deaths those that died after being diagnosed with Covid, and those were the ones reported, a total of 27,390. The National Board for Health and Welfare (NBHW) only included deaths if an autopsy determine that covid was the underlying cause of death, 85% of the total, 23, 282. The Swedish Covid-19 Commission preferred the NBHW definition of covid deaths, narrowing the gap with his neighbors Denmark, Finland and Norway, which counted as covid deaths' those that the autopsy determined that covid was the underlying cause of death.

So, we agree.

Far more Swedes died per capita.

Sweden is a typical Nordic country, with a higher population density and overcrowded households. Sweden migrant population wee disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with higher risks of infection, hospitalization, and death compared to their host-native counterparts. When you compare Sweden native population with the other Nordic countries, the covid death per million are in the same range. Migrant population account for 20.3% of Sweden population equivalent to 10.22x0.203=2.07 M, and 40% of covid deaths. Migrant population in the other Nordic countries, mostly from western countries, have same percentage of covid deaths than natives.

When you compare Sweden excess deaths during the pandemic with other European countries, including its Nordic neighbors, it has the lowest excess mortality rate at 4.4%, Sweden strategist proved that lockdowns do not work. Other countries managed to delay some deaths, but they end up with higher excess deaths.

Sweden’s top infectious disease expert, Anders Tegnell, was one of the few people to understand that lockdowns would not work. By understanding this basic economic principle and having the courage to stand by his convictions, Tegnell was able to avoid the pernicious effects of lockdowns, a policy that seduced so many central planners. Today, many more people in Sweden are alive because of it. And Anders Tegnell should not be shy in saying, “I told you so.”

Sweden is not a shining example of how to handle a pandemic.

Fatalities per million:

Finland 2,058
Norway 1,050
Sweden 2,616

Certainly they did ok when compared to countries that really messed it up (US 3,493 fatalities per million) but not nearly as well as countries that had a uniform national mitigation plan and executed on it (Canada 1,424 and South Korea 693 fatalities per million).

Sweden is a cautionary tale of what not to do in response to the next pandemic.
