I think 1) you're pimping your own video, and 2) you lost me as soon as you labeled the two "factions" as "liberalism" and "fundamentalism." Way to give away the game in the first 15 seconds.

Aside from being a little oversimplified (there are more than two factions, being one problem), I like it and most of what he said is line with my recent thinking.

We have this behemoth central government that has grown so far beyond its bounds it is unreal. It gobbles up a huge portion of the GDP and then impoverishes us with inflation by printing more fiat money to cover its shortfalls. It inserts its tentacles into state and local issues by taking our money away and giving it back with strings attached..."do this and that or we'll cut your highway/education/etc Fed funds."

The spectrum called "leftist" and the spectrum called "conservative" battle each other for control of this gargantuan beast that dominates everyone's life. They also battle internally within the party to set policy. Everyone is concerned because the central government is so vast, so powerful, controls so much wealth, and insinuates itself into everyone's everyday life.

What he's proposing is a return to Federalism in a specific sort of way. Let each state declare itself, "red or blue", left or right, or to be more specific and realistic you could have socialist-liberal, centrist, conservative, libertarian and yeah maybe even "fundamentalist" states. Then let people vote with their feet.

It's much like the Federalism that we started with --- a Federated government of Sovereign States.

Is it do-able? Maybe not, barring civil war. It is an attractive solution, as people could choose what sort of system they wanted to live under without having to move to a whole different country.

If we don't do something, we will end up in civil war about which side will be master of the all-pervasive central government. "Democracy" only lasts as long as the 50%-minus-one is willing to let the 50%-plus-one run things.

A solution of this sort would at least leave everyone with somewhere to go, and some way of living roughly like they want to live, without imposing it on those who don't want it... that's a positive for individual freedom, so I kind of like it.
