The Republicans' White Supremacy Problem Is Way Bigger Than Steve Scalise

Given that ID is so easily obtained and pretty much already required for everything under the sun, and it's aim is to prevent voter fraud, that you must see that as some sort of indication racism kinda tells me how this will go. You seriously cannot fathom a race neutral reason for requiring an ID, can you? We really do speak a different language sometimes.

Let me ask you this. You're pro abortion rights, aren't you? Well abortion rates for African Americans are far higher than that of whites. Does your support for abortion indicate racism on your part in that you want fewer black babies?

I try to stay out of the abortion debate, though that might be hypocritical of me. It just seems like a debate with no winners that I don't want to touch with a 50-foot pole. Regarding the voter ID: I don't think wanting a voter ID is racist nor do I think being a GOPer is indicative of being a racist. But, if one were racist and wanted to hurt the black community, instituting a voter ID would be a step in that direction. That doesn't mean supporting the voter ID makes you racist and I am not trying to say that.

I remember reading this article a few months back and it blew me away. Is this **** true? Because it's ****ing nuts. That's why I need a rebuttal. Sensational stuff like this usually tends to be false or only partially correct.

What's to rebut? You think Democrats don't have their own cynical past when it comes to race and that it doesn't continue into today?

You know what a dog whistle is, right? So the implication is that these subtle appeals to racial bigotry are heard and understood by the racists, right? Isn't if funny, then, that it seems to be primarily heard by those on the left? And no, I don't think being on the political left makes you racist, not at all, but some of you do want to make race the issue when it's not and find that crying this subtle and perhaps even unintentional (which is something I flat out reject) is a damn good way to try to silence the opposition whether it's legit or not. Not at all saying that's true of you btw, just to be clear.

Fair enough.

I always show my driver's license because I just don't carry my voter ID card with me. With all the early voting and mobile polling places, Texas makes it incredibly easy to vote (granted, we had to show a picture I'd the last time). If requiring ID has this severe detrimental impact on voting, I wonder what else it impacts (driving? flying? traveling?) and why nobody decries the injustices in those things.

Aren't there nine supreme court justices?
