Fear. It's not merely that they'll show how incompetent he is, it's that in his first administration he was almost removed. "Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President." 25th Amendment, Section 4.

For the same reason, he has systematically eliminated all of the other checks on his power - inspectors generation, lawyers, flag officers - and has overtly threatened members of the other branches.

Trump's incompetant cronies will do his bidding... no questions asked and no resistence ever.

Of all the Trump sychophants in power, I think AG Pam Bondi is currently doing the most damage.

She is tearing down the ideal of "Rule of Law" in manifold ways, and is weakening the legal principle of "due process"... aided by the Thomas Court.

Can't have anybody showing him up.

He is not a team leader. He has not gathered a group of experts to assist in his ability to lead the nation and help grow America, make it better. No. He is not a team leader at all. He is The Donald. The one and only. He is going to do things his way. All he wants is the appearance of a team, which is really just a bunch of suck-ups supporting his ego.

Any good ideas that come out of the team, if Donald likes them he will take advantage of it and claim full responsibility for the good idea. If he doesn't like it, the idea gets quashed regardless if whether or not it had any merit. Particularly if the nature of it would make it difficult for him to claim credit for it.

He wants a group of people fearful of him and his ability to fire anyone instantly who will prop up is lardful ass and help him get attention.

You make a good point. In Trump's first term, he actually picked several individuals who were competent, even qualified for their posts. Unfortunately for Trump, they felt compelled to speak up when they knew Trump was wrong. This resulted in a revolving door being installed in the West Wing, with cabinet members and ranking staffers being replaced almost on a daily basis.

Trump seeks no advisers or advice. He must always be the smartest man in the room. He simply needs people who will agree with him and do his bidding. The GOP senate will confirm anyone Trump nominates, SCOTUS will rule in favor of Trump's position, regardless of the law or precedent. They've even gone so far as to grant him permission to commit crimes while in office.

We now have a dictatorship which can and does manipulate global markets and destabilizes alliances on a daily basis. And MAGA approves.

Even in his first term, his cabinet selections were, quite deliberately, among the worst humanly possible. They ranged from people who admitted to knowing absolutely nothing about their post (Rick Perry), people whose direct life experience disqualified them (DeVos), people who had actually sued the department they were put in charge of (Pruitt), people with no experience running anything at all (Carson), etc, etc....

When your grand scheme is to destroy the US government from within, finding people to do that is easy.

I put the blame on our Senate. trump nominated a bunch of inexperienced sycophants to serve in the cabinet, yet it was the Senate, too terrified of getting primaried to stand up to trump that
approved this bunch of losers.

Absolutely. The Senate had an opportunity to rid the nation of this madman during two impeachments. They blinked. The GOP is wholly responsible.

VOTE THEM OUT. ALL OF THEM.

Trump wanted those who would generate headline saying outrageous things for his second chapter of Trump goes to Washington reality spectacle. He loves spectacle. He loves creating outrageous headlines. Now he has and entire crew dedicated to that. They won’t be doing their jobs. What little will actually be done will be delegated to faceless lackeys. This is the Trump reality show now, and all of us will pay the real world cost and consequences for it, to the detriment of the entire globe. All because the sociopathic Trump simply likes to manipulate and cause distress for personal kicks. This is what happens when a criminal is elected president.

I suspect that in 2026 the House will have a bunch of new Democratic members. The Senate however, is a less sure thing. I believe a lot of the Senators from agricultural states will be sweating the election, but in rural areas they habitually vote Republican.

Trump will have to bail out the farmers again.

True, and since he doesn't have to worry about running again (regardless of his posturing) he is totally unrestrained.

That's the subject of another thread I've been contemplating. :)

If this is true, then how is Trump a fascist? Mussolini glorified the state, and did everything he could to make it bigger.

It's cause he's a narcissist and these types of people are not interested in surrounding themselves with the most competent people who tell them what they NEED to hear, but instead surround themselves with people who are sycophants who tell them what they WANT to hear.

The difference between what is happening now and Trump 1.0 is that the dude tended to surround himself with general types and industry types who knew when to push back.

Depends on how fast MAGA mothers lose their social security and Medicaid.

Not necessarily because they care so much about their mothers. Just that they don’t want her to move in with them.

I think his cabinet is full of enablers. Completely loyal people who put Trump’s interests way ahead of the best interests of the people in this country. They’re singular in their goals, to serve whatever Trump wants in his quest for revenge and retribution against anyone who he believes has crossed him.

I don’t necessarily agree that these people he installed in his cabinet are incompetent. They’re despicable, sorry scum who, like Trump, completely disregard their oaths they swore to uphold the Constitution every time they open their mouths. Trump does it, so they do it.

Trump is a dummy, and I believe more often than not, he tells them generally what his goal is on the issues he wants to change, and then instructs them to get it done without regard whether it’s lawless or not. It’s what he’s always done. But who came up with using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to grab people off the streets and just shipping them to El Salvador? It sure wasn’t Trump. There’s just nobody in the entire administration to give a shred of pushback.

Then the “big head attitude” kicks in with these people when they get their marching orders and they start pulling stupid stuff. See Kristi Noem’s stunt, the ridiculous stuff about Doug Burgum, and massive, unnecessary security details for Kash Patel and that idiot Bongino. Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice have their own brand of perverted justice just to serve Trump. On and on and on.

What the hell? These people don’t work for the people of this country- they work for Trump, and that’s the problem. From Trump on down, all these people need to go.

Absolutely agree. The Senate could have saved America from a lot of Trump shenanigans had they just done their jobs to deep six any Trump nominee that wasn't qualified. Bondi, Hegseth, Gabbard, Patel, Kennedy and Bongo-Bongo never should have been confirmed.

Speaking of Bongo-Bongo, what on earth is this about? Why does an Assistant FBI director need a 20 man protection team?
