One you eliminate that head poisoning, then kids can make up their own minds on the complexities that drive history.

This has already been decided by the supreme court

West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943), is a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court holding that the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment protects students from being forced to salute the American flag or say the Pledge of Allegiance in public school.

"If there is any fixed star in our constitutional constellation, it is that no official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion, or other matters of opinion or force citizens to confess by word or act their faith therein."

Not pledging allegiance to the flag has been constitutionally protected since 1943.

West Virginia v. Barnette: The freedom to not pledge allegiance | Constitution Center

On June 14, 1943, the Supreme Court ruled that public school students cannot be forced to salute and pledge allegiance to the U.S. flag.

And the Supreme court has already dealt with the issue.

It is unconstitutional to mandate kids pledge or do the flaf salute.
