I’m not a fan of the idea of children taking hormones or having surgery. Im really not.

But I’m also not a fan of prohibiting that from happening.

I think that there may likely be a very small percentage of kids for whom it does become a serious enough dysmorphia issue where medical intervention IS necessary to prevent them from committing suicide.

I feel bad for families that are truly caught in that situation. They’re between two bad choices.



Do I think that some kids “experiment” with wanting to be called by different pronouns or a different name or countless other things? Yep. Do I think that for the most part a lot of that should be ignored as much as possible (respected, but don’t really feed into it one way or the other)? Again yep.

Kids are trying to figure out who they are and life is a LOT more complicated for kids and teens in 2025 than it was for most of us.

I’ve watched two teen kids of friends experiment with different nicknames and use gender neutral pronouns. No one made a big deal out of it either way - and they changed their minds and settled back on their original name/pronouns.



I think we should trust doctors. And therapists. And parents should work with them if they have concerns about their kids.

I don’t see the government getting involved in situations by banning things as an answer.

Set ethical standards. Set medical practice standards. Make sure that before a kid starts down a path with a lot of side effects and potential for altering their bodies permanently in ways that can be detrimental - ALL the boxes are checked, twice.

But don’t ban it outright. That’s going to put some family that’s already in an impossible situation - in a worse one. And there ARE those families. It’s likely a tiny percentage, but they’re only going to be hurt by outright bans.
