I did this for about 6 months last year. Ended up having to spend about $2500in car repairs that made me quitAnd if you have a car - gig jobs can help pay the bills.
Instacart, DoorDash, Shipt, etc....depending on where you live....don't require putting other people in your vehicle and you can pick what hours, etc. you want to work.
Yeah, and the guys are actually in good shape! All good weight, with some muscle! Keeps ya out of the doctor and away from blood pressure meds at least! We can't get mates or deckhands and we pay well.
Is it hard work? Yep.
But its also damn good money.
I am not trying to be rude or lecture.
Ugh. Sorry. Was trying to come up with ideas.I did this for about 6 months last year. Ended up having to spend about $2500in car repairs that made me quit

All of them? I mean, some, yes, but some office workers have had quadruple bypass and have gotten diabetes. You have to look out after your own health regardless of what jobs you do, IMO.If you saw some roofers that I know that are now crippled and cant walk because they crawled around on a roof for 30 years, or theyre literally crippled and disabled from a fall or some such injury, you wouldn't ask that question. Its very hard on your body.

There is an art to interviewing.
LinkedIn will have a lot of tips, suggestions, practice interview questions, etc.
Well, AI isn’t taking my job anytime soon. Some people enjoy physical work, and some people don’t.So yeah after you've been doing it for years you may work into something easier physically. What I'm saying is avoid that. Go into something physically easier to begin with.
As long as it's something I have a rudimentary amount of knowledge already, probably. I have applied for some tech sales jobs. Funny enough I just got an email from the local cable company@instagramsci, can you sell?

I feel bad you've heard such horror stories about physical work. It's not all that bad, trust me, I know.
mostly work at home customer service. independent contractor, work you own hours. 60 background feeAs long as it's something I have a rudimentary amount of knowledge already, probably. I have applied for some tech sales jobs. Funny enough I just got an email from the local cable company
Careful with the cable/VZ gigs. They are often pink leads with straight commish. In other words, someone partially filled out an online something, and you have to knock on their door but don't get paid if you don't close. As long as it's something I have a rudimentary amount of knowledge already, probably. Wow, what a dickish post. I'm surprised you gave @tshade shit, this is far worse. I meant no offense to you, seems this beef here goes beyond today I imagine, that's cool. I'll skip ya from now on! Wasn't aware of the conflict! Now with your condescending bullshit, you just cant help yourself can you? Thats you.
I have literally worked in most of the trades involved in house building. Mansions. The kind with slate roofs and copper No offense, I was crawling around on a roof 30 feet off the ground breaking my back probably long before you were thought of.
I have seen people killed on construction sites. So stuff your condescending bullshit, my guess is I know far more about it than you do.
I stay in shape by long distance swimming, bicycling, and calisthenics. Not by climbing 40 feet up a ladder that some idiot could knock me off of at any time.
Good day.
I've looked into it. CNAs can make decent money but PCAs are pretty ruthlessly exploited around here. Like $11 an hour (state min wage). I don't have proof but the LLCs seem quite shady and are not well reviewedAnother thought - elder care/home health care worker. There is a shortage of those around here also - folks willing to be companions and/or personal care givers for home health care agencies. You'll need to pass background checks and have reliable transportation, but I don't think you would need specific certifications past that.
Good instincts. $11/hr is not worth the liability.I've looked into it. CNAs can make decent money but PCAs are pretty ruthlessly exploited around here. Like $11 an hour (state min wage). I don't have proof but the LLCs seem quite shady and are not well reviewed
A somewhat related story. I applied for a medical transport job. Taking people to their appointments and such. I show up to this office duplex. Walk in, and the guy is wearing a white t-shirt, cargo shorts (practically capris), and sandals with socks.
Mind you I'm wearing slacks, dress shirt, dress shoes.
I'm like. Fine, whatever it might not be that big of a deal.
On the ad that I applied to, it said there was a company supplied vehicle. Great. No wear and tear on my car. No one's gonna puke or spill some other bodily fluid into my car. Awesome.
During the interview the guy tells me I'll be using my own car to transport the people.
Ex-****ing-scuse me? That's not what the ad said at all?
Immediately excuse myself and left
This particular job is in a retail store and is $16/hr base with commission. Not great but not awful either. No door to doors.Careful with the cable/VZ gigs. Been on my radar, but I'm unsureBut, I was thinking insurance.
I hear you...I worked for a fortune 500 company in the Pacific NW for 22 (12 years in IT) years but was eventually laid off. I took the 'opportunity' to get my degree in IT. I was over 50 but really didn't think I'd have any problem getting a job. I had a good professional resume, I applied for jobs I was qualified but not over qualified. In one of my interviews it was there procedure to not look into the eyes of the person who applied. They asked questions and never stopped looking at their notes. I went to another interview that was like game show. Four other applicants and I were interviewed at the same time. I couldn't get the game show to tell the truth out of my head. Another one was even worse 50 people in a room for a fire interview. I also believed age was an issue. There is a caricature of an IT person being 25 years old. What the hell is going on?
I've applied to over 500 jobs in the past two years. I've gotten virtual/phone interviews for about 20. I have interviewed in person for less than 10. I've received offers for 2.
Retail, food service, IT, clerical.
I've had my resume punched up multiple times.
In the interviews, I am polite, friendly, and focused. Even though I do have ADHD, which makes it difficult to answer open ended questions (which seem to be recruiters/managersHR/etc's favorite form of question)
This shit is miserable
I've managed to apply to liveops and not hear back lolmostly work at home customer service. independent contractor, work you own hours. 60 background fee
I've been here 20 years selling infomercials.. i lov it

The medical transport paid a little more than PCA, but even then not enough to drive my own car. Especially with the extra insurance and having to probably get it detailed.Good instincts. $11/hr is not worth the liability.
That is shocking. Have you had a pro look at your resume?I've applied to over 500 jobs in the past two years. I've gotten virtual/phone interviews for about 20. I have interviewed in person for less than 10.

Ha ha, you have no idea what she has done or can and still does. If she were meaner she’d probably call you a *****, but she’s too nice. Now with your condescending bullshit, you just cant help yourself can you? Thats you.

Good call! I would not like that one bit either!!I've looked into it. CNAs can make decent money but PCAs are pretty ruthlessly exploited around here. Like $11 an hour (state min wage). I don't have proof but the LLCs seem quite shady and are not well reviewed

I forget that wages decrease as latitude decreases. This particular job is in a retail store and is $16/hr base with commission. Not great but not awful either. No door to doors.
One of my kids started off property/auto/life. Took the old fashioned route where the house pays for certs and licensure in exchange for a minimum commitment.Been on my radar, but I'm unsure
I have yesThat is shocking. Have you had a pro look at your resume?
I did actually accept one. Walmart. I worked there for about a month and they stopped scheduling meWhy didn't you accept either?
