On Saturday, (Mike) Huckabee tweeted his delight at the news that Andrew McCabe, former deputy director of the FBI and 21-year veteran of the agency, had been fired the night before. McCabe would have been able to retire Sunday.

“Breaking Wind from CNN!” he wrote. “Andy McCabe offered deal for lying to FBI and won’t get pension but will get passage in overhead bin on United flight to Oakland to work for scofflaw mayor.”

Huckabee was referring to a dog that died this week after it was put in the overhead bin of a United Airlines flight. David Huckabee, the former governor’s son, killed a dog while working as a counselor at a Boy Scouts camp in 1998. Funny stuff, right?

As is so common in religious threads...no, an individuals action is not what [religion in question] means in this country or what [people of the religion in question] want.

Huckabee's always seemed to be snarky and capable of being a bit of an ass, this doesn't really surprise me. Who his daughter is is utterly irrelevant to me. Guy who is now basically a media type acts like an ass on social media....meh?

The more religious and outspoken about their religion a person is, throwing it in everybody's face, the bigger the hypocrite they are. Such despicable people. Worse, are the idiots who support these people. They think they are such good christians and they can't even follow the teachings of Jesus.

2) People have always weaponized religion.

Good questions. Sadly the answer to several is "yes". Our Judeo-Christian Heritage brings a bit of barbarism with it. "hate your next door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace" from the old song.

Sadly, given the actual text, the folks from those days who wrote those concepts down were a lot more progressive than a lot of our modern day "Christians"...the barbarism is current, and walks around in suits and does it's rape and pillage on the stock markets...not to mention in government. There's a lot done in the name of Christianity that, as a Christian, I wouldn't want to have to answer for...

Christians (and others) bash Muslims for not yelling at their terrorists and say that means they support them...what does it say about Christians that they are silent about child molestation, Porn star infidelity, lying....etc....hell they even seem to champion it. The Christian faith has been decimated by the silence of its devout in the U.S.

I agree, he doesn't represent Christians. But then again, he claims to. I know this from his unsuccessful bid for the Presidency in New Hampshire. He preaches Christian behavior, and bringing Christianity back to schools (as I've seen others say we need to do as well). Therefore, since he puts himself out there as a Christian leader, his behavior deserves scrutiny.

Right before he declared his candidacy in 2015 he said this:

Of course if you were referencing a religion other than Christianity, condemning anyone based entirely on a shared religion would not be so readily applauded.

Think of it this way. As a caliphate, Islamic State claims religious, political and military authority over all Muslims worldwide. They can claim that till they are blue in the face but they do not speak for all Muslims.

The joke about the dog was in very poor taste, but I don't know if it's anti-Christian to enjoy watching those who oppose you brought to justice. His comments were uncalled for but "anti-Christian?" Probably not.

Yeah, I don't care for Huckabee -- he's a little extreme for my tastes -- but he's mild compared to some Islamic leaders who would probably have McCabe tortured (Saudi) or killed.

As an atheist, I can't really say what evangelicals want taught in our schools, but, since you brought up religion in schools (which I staunchly oppose) I suppose we should thank our lucky stars that it's Christianity and not Islam.

Huckabee was out of line, I agree, but your melodramatic hissy fit is also WAY over the top. That's something you and Huckabee seem to have in common.

Please tell me you’re not saying what the OP is so worked up about is the same as terrorism. Given what has recently been exposed about Hollywood that lefties have overlooked for years, treating it as a joke, while at the same time claiming some sort of protector status of women, a lot of lefties and media can stuff their selective outrage.
