Rural northern California is seeing a troubling rise in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations, an alarming trend that comes as residents and businesses continue to protest against safety measures and vaccinations – with one Mendocino cafe threatening to charge customers $5 for wearing a mask.

After largely avoiding the worst of the pandemic, a block of far northern California counties now leads the state with nearly 40 cases per 100,000 residents over the past week, according to statistics maintained by the Los Angeles Times. Tehama county ranked the highest in the LA Times case ratings with 139 cases per 100,000 residents. Meanwhile 10 of the 21 total Covid deaths in nearby Siskiyou county have occurred since the beginning of May.

Not all of California is the pro-science, liberal state that it's typically thought of. Inland California, particularly Northern California, still has pockets of proud ignorance, where many people have no regard for the well-being of themselves and others.

Very simple way to increase cases .
Just increase testing .
Neither PCR or Lateral flow are diagnostic and if you get bored you can test animals and fruit which will test positive .


Seems that this area in Cal is spot on with their scientific awareness now that it has been shown -- for the umpteenth time -- that masks are not just absurd but also dangerous when used excessively .

Just test everybody and then add on further positives where any otherwise negative result shows somebody with at least one Covid symptom .

About '2000' the last time I looked .WHO probably will add , ' looking confused ' tomorrow .

I don't look. It's difficult watching people kill themselves, and others. It's hard to see them cost us jobs, and kill small business.
The misinformation is staggering, and happens a lot here even on DP.
We now have the means to get rid of this pandemic, yet, this subset of our population will keep it going for a while.

Not a lot we can do about it because people scream "freedum." Even on their death bed. Sure, they regret it, but the ones who survive, keep a line of followers satisfied. Just enough to keep the conspiracies alive and well. It's bizarre what people believe now a days, and how this individualist attitude keeps them trucking on.

They'll never see the connection. I'm sort of giving up. I guess it's worth it to them and yes, I do blame them for keeping this going, and any innocent lives they take with them. I look at them like I'd look at any terrorist.

In my state we still have at least 20 to 50 deaths a day, and a couple hundred in the hospitals on vents. 99% of them are not vaccinated. I look at it daily and think, can they not see this? Or are they just all willing to die for their freedom......

Who told you no diagnostic test methods work? Obviously they do.

There is no reason to think vaccines are ineffective and dangerous.
