I have a hard time picturing Meghan's mother with her father. Her mother seems so well put together and her father...not so much.

Until her latest business endeavor (senior care), she was a yoga-instructor. Thomas Markle, an Emmy-winning lighting director, is living his retirement out just the way a lot of guys hang out on weekends, sloppy bums, LOL. I was active in local politics for a long while and had occasion to go into neighborhoods knocking on doors for petition signatures, and I was stunned by the number of guys who were still in their underwear at 3 on a Saturday afternoon. I think of Thomas Markle in that "casual" way, and hey, why not? His life is ticking down, and he's living a secluded life on the beach in Mexico. McDonald's and Dos Equis for the win!

Meghan Markle is known to be a pathological liar. This is very much being exposed in UK publications, which more is coming out here since her Oprah interview. Crying "racism!" telling lies is fully acceptable in Californian Democratic circles, but not so much in the UK.

Meghan Markle told Oprah that her passport was taken from her when she joined the royals. Here she is seen in NYC on Feb. 19, 2019.
The Duchess of Sussex told Oprah Winfrey that she handed over her passport when she joined the royal fold in 2016.

“You couldn’t just go. You couldn’t. I mean, you have to understand, as well, when I joined that family, that was the last time, until we came here, that I saw my passport, my driver’s license, my keys,” Markle said.

It is understood from royal sources that her passport had to be kept safe to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, though she still would have had to use it on trips abroad, the Sun reported.

Besides Queen Elizabeth II, all members of the royal family are required to have a passport on foreign trips, according to the outlet, which reported that Markle flew off on 13 holidays after she started seeing Harry, including jaunts to New York, Ibiza, Botswana, Italy and Amsterdam.

Harry said: "This year has been crazy for everybody. But to have outdoor space where I can go for walks with Archie and go for walks as a family and with the dogs," he said, "all of these things are just—I guess the highlight for me is sticking him on the back of a bicycle in his little baby seat and taking him on bike rides which is something I was never able to do when I was young. I can seat him on the back and he's got his arms out and he's like 'whoah.'" x-Prince Harry, now just Harry, also is a liar.

Royal Family 'horrified' by interview

While some American Democrats so love anyone who cries "racism!" even if ever word they say is a known lie, I gather that Harry and Meghan are seen as just liars in the UK - just another example of how things go so terribly wrong if a royal marries an American actress.

The problem is not someone from the US marrying into a royal family, it is the UK royal family that makes this go wrong because it is out of touch/backward/archaic and totally full of arrogant dipshits.

This is just too good not to share

In a democracy that is possible. Our limiting of royal power started in the 19th century, and his/her power has decreased ever since until not much more than a person who is just a glorified royal representative of the Dutch people/government.

And if a majority of people becomes republican any royal family will be voted out so to speak. But in the Netherlands just a minority is supporter of becoming a republic.

In April 2020 74% if the Dutch supported the monarchy.
Ive never quite understood this European fascination with using their tax money to support a group of people who were somehow born lucky, as if they were gods or something, even in just a ceremonial sense. I could think of better things to spend my money and attention on.

Too bad the UK has both.

I 'll say this for the English monarchy:
They are more colourful then presidents elsewhere in the world.
And they are completely harmless - in contrast to many presidents.

Many Tourists come to England because of the Monarchy.
In Trump's time I think lots of tourists rather stayed away because of Trump.

Now:
Total voters 24

11 x for somebody else

I think the US President has his passport etc kept for safekeeping. Doesn't mean he's a prisoner.

Yeah, because presidents are free of charge

Or because having a president never is a divisive thing

Or because presidents are so wonderful in leading diplomatic/business missions.

Or because having presidential elections does not cost a dime

And nobody believes our royal families are gods, most of us do not worship our royal family. And have you looked at the slavish worship some republicans have of Trump? Thus even non royals get worshiped, JFK for example.

And you can decide up to some degree as to where your money or attention is spent, we have different views in Europe (some parts of Europe).

Trooping the Colour in 2016. :)

A ridiculous event as she sits there almost on her own, why not her husband, son, grandson there. It just is unnatural as hell.

I'm on the outside...walking by...shaking my head...and moving on with my life.

Historically speaking, they are absolutely not harmless, in fact, they've harmed millions of people. Second, your argument that they're basically powerless parasites with no real function just backs up my position that they should be stripped of their wealth, power and status.

Ridiculous or not - it has a great tradition. And is very popular. :)

Why is it a great tradition to have her sit there all on her own? And military parades are so out of fashion.

Her husband is sitting right beside her. Why would the grandkids be there at such a formal military event?
