Putin's been a busy Nord Stream angry man during these times sending a Russian Air Force Su-27 into Denmark sovereign airspace over Bornholm island.

NATO said the Su-27 was "committing a significant violation of airspace of a NATO nation." NATO says that Danish quick reaction alert F-16 fighter jets were then launched from their mainland base at Vojens but that the Su-27 left before they arrived.

The Russian Su-27 from Kaliningrad went up to follow a USAF B-52 that was flying over the Baltic to include over Bornholm island. The Su-27 pealed off and away from the B-52 when the Danish AF F-16 Fighting Falcons were scrambled to intercept it. The B-52 was unescorted by any supporting NATO or USA fighter airplanes as it flew a training mission.

Word is that Denmark might be considering denying Gazprom permission to lay the remaining 160km of pipe in its EEZ based on the decision yesterday by DNV GL verification service of Norway not to verify Nord Stream 2 Still Kaput if the laying of pipe might ever completed.

The firm belief is that if DNV GL won't verify Nord Stream 2 for certification by Denmark, no one will verify it, which would mean Denmark would be unable under the law to certify the project section in its EEZ.

Washington Examiner is reporting that Russian SVR intelligence has been cyber invading the DNV GL company in Norway to see its communications and decision making processes that led to the company announcing yesterday it would not verify NS 2 SK for certification should the pipeline ever be completed.

The US has identified Russian SVR as the primary attacker in the SolarWinds cyberattack against the United States.

Norway authorities arrested a DNV GL employee for suspected espionage to aid the Russians in gathering information on the company and its otherwise straight up contracts with Gazprom to conduct independent third party verification of Nord Stream for certification by the various governments affected by the pipeline their own waters.

DNV GL is a Norwegian energy company involved in Nord Stream II licensing assessments. Tathgar would have access to information of value to Moscow in that any insight would enable the Kremlin to advance its Nord Stream II development activities or anticipate upcoming challenges to those activities. After all, Vladimir Putin views the completion of the Nord Stream II pipeline as the cornerstone of his energy blackmail strategy for at least the next 25 years. If the pipeline is completed, Russia will be able to hold energy supplies to Europe hostage in exchange for the European Union's acquiescence on Russian foreign policy interests. The Trump administration is rightly attempting to obstruct the pipeline's completion.

The new negotiations to secure a Chinese loan for the construction of Russia’s largest gas processing plant in the Amur province have ended with yet another disappointment for the Russians.

Gazprom had hoped to pay for the Amur gas processing plant through a loan from the China Development Bank that would cover 70% of the project’s estimated cost of $14 billion. However, the bank did not reach any agreement with Gazprom. The Chinese are “extremely tough negotiators,” Ivannikov complained. “They see risks in places where even Europeans don’t see any.”

The Denmark permit for Gazprom to construct the pipeline in the Denmark EEZ specifically requires DNV GL of Norway to do both the certification verification and the post certification ongoing inspections of the entire pipeline.

As we know DNV GL pulled out completely from the project Jan 2nd, the day after the new sanction threats took effect in the Defense Authorization Act on Jan. 1st. The new sanction threats are in addition to the 'old' sanction threats of course.

DNV GL Veritas Centre has a 300,000 sqmeter campus in suburban Oslo, Norway, 14,500 employees and 350 offices operating in more than 100 countries.


In other words the Denmark permit to Gazprom is only for Det Norske Veritas to do the certification verification and the operation of the pipeline.
