The AP is taking Trump to court on 1rst and 5th amendment violations

lol, OK. I don't know if there's much standing there for the lawsuit, but we'll see how it goes. Usually it's Trump who's suing the Press, guess we have The Press Strikes Back.

lol
Trump administration just won the case against the AP.

This is an interesting discussion. It does appear they have a good case
He has no actual right or. mandate to rename the Gulf of Mexico.
And certainly not punish an orgamisation for regusing to comply with what is just a decree.
He has actually banned the AP from White House press briefings for continuing to call it the Gullf of Mexico. Its a move of stunning pettiness by a child.

I thought that this was just a first amendment issue but they make clear that ifs a fifth issue because the AP werre denied due process.

I future historians will llook at this and shake their heads. A crazy man using public funds to pursue whims and private vendettas while half the world is at war.

Its just so petty.

Maf King Ludwig was possibly the craziest man in history but at least he built pretty castles.

'The point that AP lost the case is real.
Instead of commenting on that, you choose to attack my way of posting. I have a few adjectives I could use at this time toward you but will not because they violate forum rules. Cheers.

Yeah, Trump loves to sue the press. Y'all love it.
And his administration won. Take your disdain over to the judge that ruled in the Trump administration's favor. Cheers!

Won what? I think the courts upheld his ban of AP, but now we have this.

I get it, you hate free press, you hate any news source that won't print as Dear Leader dictates. We know. No point continually proving that.

No, you don't get it. But have a good evening anyway.

This is a frivolous lawsuit. Trump's renaming of the Gulf may be jingoistic, but the names of places as recognized under US federal law (even if those places are outside of the US) are set by the US Board on Geographic Names, which is part of the Department of the Interior, and that department reports to the President.

As for in-person access to White House press briefings, that is a privilege, not a right.

Well argued. No doubt the court will see it the very same way. They're not obligated to give the AP access. The AP still has general WH press credentials. Nobody took that from them.

This lawsuit is moving forward. The judge did not dismiss it. Paramount wants to settle. CBS will lose. It will most certainly be brought up in trial that in the past, CBS tried to stop Bush 45 from winning with the lies, slander, and forged documents.

CBS, being a powerhouse influencer for the bias to the left, needs to be ruined.

No, you don't get it. But have a good evening anyway.
CBS did a huge disgrace. If you looked at this in an unbiased manner, you would agree they need to be penalized like Fox was with Dominion.

This isn't a strong case in all honesty. Regardless of Trump's pettiness or whether or not he has the power to change the name of things on a map, that's not a case that any court is going to take up because it's not actually a serious legal issue.

As far as the AP's exclusion from the White House press corp goes, there's no case at all. No outlet has a guaranteed right to be included in the press corp and anyone can be included or excluded at the Executive's discretion. If the courts were to rule that the AP has a right to be there, then that will give precedent to every single conservative outlet to have a "right" to be included in future Democratic administrations. No way on earth that any judge would go there, not that there's any legal avenue to arrive at such a decision in the first place.

The Trump administration just won the case.

That is not accurate, the judge did not issue an immediate restraining order but did set a date for an additional hearing. The case was not dismissed.

And when Obama skipped over FOX for a few briefings and interviews with some administration officials, you were all hunky-dory with that because you all knew it was a "privilege, not a right"? You all just shrugged and let it happen without complaint, right?

C'mon now...

So does pound sand.

Your post are worth little, the less bandwidth they take up the better…..

I did not say the case was dismissed. I said the administration won. They won the first round. because the AP is still banned at this time.

This thread is about the AP who evidently believes they are privileged. As far as CBS goes, they have earned the BS in their title.

If you feel that way then don't read them and don't take up more bandwidth responding to them.

I had to scroll past three successive posts that were near identical!

It works with different posters as well

AP is going to lose badly.

In order for the AP to win they will need to argue that the AP, and not the President, has more power determine where the AP can go in the White House, which is insane.

Don't be so sure. After he took a swing at a female WH intern the Trump administration tried to take Jim Acosta's so-called hard pass for press conferences. This would have forced him to reapply for each press availability event. A Federal Judge ruled against the Trump administration on the grounds there were no published rules of conduct as if assault wasn't a crime.

A "free press" is not stymied by a target/focus/hoped-for source refusing to answer questions or even to acknowledge them.

Free speech doesn't compel others to answer questions or even give anyone an opportunity to ask. All it allows for is the person/news agency/whatever to "publish" their own views.

No one is required to answer questions posed by media, the news can still print what they want. There is no law or requirement that anyone has to answer the questions of the Press. As the current Administration says, it is a PRIVILEGE to get a chance to interview/question the President.
