The 2017 French Presidential Election

Surprisingly, exit polls have been released (even though it is illegal in France to do so) but the Belgian RTBF has released them.

Macron is in the lead with 24% of the votes and Le Pen, Fillon and Mélenchon are fighting for the second place in the election. Le Pen gets about 22% of the vote, Fillon has about 20.5% and Mélenchon is at about 18%.

Macron=Hollande in disguise - Fillon=Sarkozy in disguise - Melenchon=Venezuela in disguise - Le Pen=Wilders in disguise

A bit like the US, the French also have far less than optimal choices.
Nice summary.

I'm personally holding back on Macron though. Seems to me that Macron = Macron in disguise.

Early results form France 24 based on exit polls:
Macron at 23.7%, Le Pen at 21.7%, Fillon at 19.5% and Mélenchon at 19.5%, according to early results

It is Macron vs. Le Pen in the final vote and Macron is expected to win that battle.

Fillon and Mahon have already called for their voters to support Macron in two weeks' time.

I recently saw several videos of French police officers getting their ass beat in their own country, hamstrung by government policies that make them nothing more than targets. I hope for the French people that they elect someone that will change their course. If not...**** them...they will get everything they deserve and more. At the very least...they may at least stand as a 'tripwire'

Agreed. See below.

That would be too bad. La Pen may be the only hope France has of retaining their sovereignty.
Booting the EU is a must! Stopping immigration, is also a must! Routing enclaves of radical Muslims is another, must!
Defenseless people are always at the mercy of their government and at the mercy of criminal terrorist thugs. The same scum that is attempting to take over France, is also working to disarm Americans. One in the same and funded by Soros.

Macron is the better option than Le pen.

Pretty accurate...

Trump and Putin will feign non-interference, but leave no doubts that they support Le Pen.

You think Macron's a socialist?

Well, congrats, that would mean you know more than even he does.

thats good, since you probably do not understand governments of the world

LOL. After your display of knowledge previously, I'm happy to defer to your "expertise" on the subject.

anytime you believe you can rise to the challenge, be my guest

No thanks, prefer to discuss with people who are at least familiar with the subject. Thanks for the bandwidth filler though.

I DO hope that most (at least) here realize that this here thing is about electing the president of France and not parliament (Assemblée nationale).

Elections for the latter are due June-11 and 18 this year (1st and 2nd round).

Now where it's been traditional that the (previously) elected president's party is given the approval of the voting public there, that's not a rule written in stone at all.
