What are you planning/going to for Thanksgiving?

For myself, I got a date set up for Thanksgiving dinner at a nearby hotel so Im leaving my kid with his nanny for a few hours to enjoy a good buffet spread and some nice company.

Depends if I work or not. If I do get the day off I'll be with family eating good food and having an awesome time. If I don't, then I'll be in a ****ty grocery store. I asked for it off, hope I get it.

I plan on harping about dead indians all day

I am hosting other family members who will be bringing most of the food. Works well for me.

I wish you luck!

Hope you get the day off, YS- everybody ought to be having a good time on Thanksgiving.

I'm single, and plan to cook a small turkey with some fixings (peas, mash potatoes & gravy, cranberry, biscuits and pumpkin pie) . I miss having the real thing or only one plate a year. And the small turkey's have a lot more meat per pound than the big ones, so I'll be freezing some meat for future meals. I also love turkey sandwiches for lunch.

It's more than I plan on doing for Xmas, which will be a small tree, gift to myself and buffet style meal with dessert.

Get yourself a companion as a Christmas present.

Family dinner, see my newest babies, eat far too much good food, then go home and sleep it off on the couch.

It doesn't get much better than that.

Friends, some family and hosting several international university students.

Going over my sisters place - she hosts Thanksgiving every year. The immediate family with be there - about 14-15 total. I bring the wine. I get to eat too much turkey and pie, unbutton the pants and watch football, catch up on the family drama, then take the long 810 foot drive home and probably snooze. Probably will put on the wood stove as it's ready to go.

Working from 5 PM to 2 AM, so I'll probably have to eat early.

Still though, working my first "Black Friday" should be fun.

Just as I have done for 56 years now, I will be spending it at my mom's. My mom's turkey and dressing is the best, and I can't imagine what it will be like after she's gone. The holiday season is also about the only time I see one of my younger sisters (who lives out of state), so I always try to make Thanksgiving dinner with my family, a top priority.

I think your idea is the best one I've seen.

Going to a family friends house along with 20-30 others. It's usually a zoo.

I'll also fix myself a small turkey, dressing and gravy. I simply like the leftovers and if they're doing the cooking the pickings can get a little slim.

Dinner with my daughter, her fiancee and his family. First time I won't be cooking Thanksgiving in years. Kind of bummed about that since I love cooking the T day meal. Daughter did ask specifically that I bring lasagna. Her intended countered that lasagna is
not Thanksgiving food. My daughter's response was that it is in Italian families. Good girl

When my children were small, we had to alternate Thanksgivings between my mom's and my mother-in-law's houses in self defense. One cannot eat two complete Thanksgiving dinners in one day and do justice to each, no matter how many hours between meals were scheduled! I finally started making my own, and that helped eliminate the hurt feelings. Now that my children have moved to Texas, I only have one daughter-in-law with a small child here, plus one granddaughter who just became engaged, so we will eat at D-I-L's house. There will be 10 there, I think, and I've been asked to bring pies which I enjoy doing, and it's a lot less work! Then we will go to see the Christmas windows at the various department stores, just like the scenes in the movie A Christmas Story, and officially kick off the Season! Fun! I hope to get my tree up sometime next week, too.

First year in the new house. Non of my family are coming in so we are staying home and visiting friends we have down here. I do have a good friend flying in from Colorado for the week so that will be cool. We bought a spiral ham and all of the fixings today. Would have been nice to see the family but that is asking a lot for them all to travel.

We will eat, drink and go for a nice trail ride on the ATV's

Lots of food and ATVs? Wow, that is gonna be cool.

Better get the Batsuit ready, I can imagine you chasing after half a dozen shoplifters and drunks that evening. :2razz:

I hope so. I don't get to see my buddy that often so it should be a good time. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Retail SUCKS this time of year for families. My wife is the deli manager at a big retailer and she will work 16 hours on Thanksgiving and 16 hours on Black Friday so that she can keep the crew there fed. Then on Saturday, she'll sleep about 20 hours.
woo-hoo thanksgiving

Just the two of us; well, and our 2 dogs and 3 cats, of course! I'm planning to cook prime rib. We'll keep it quiet.

I have this week and next week off work; not doing a heckuva lot, but not working is a relief. I was getting pretty grumpy, so time for a break!
