Thanks Neighbor!

Remains grounded?

That is relatively minor damage.

A Navy/Marine/Air Force structural mechanic could have that plane patched & systems checked in a few hours.
Last week, when the Super Scooper was hit by the drone, it was reported that it might be back in operation on Monday (13 January 2025).

I'll take the word of credible reporting sources over that of an anonymous poster in cyberspace.

Quebec is sending two more Super Scoopers so there'll be four when the broken wing is fixed.

It's a beautiful day when our neighbors come to our aid. Thanks, Canada.

It is the least they could do. Thought that was pretty clear. As was the "thank you".
No. There's a mutual aid agreement and a rental cost involved.
Thanks for the info.

"
Los Angeles county has had a contract to rent the water bombers for more than 30 years. It’s currently using two of them flown by a rotation of eight Canadian pilots. The US has requested two more through the NICC. They will likely be delivered next week, a spokesperson for Quebec’s forest protection agency said."

No, the least we could do, after all the bullshit rhetoric Trump has been spewing at us the last while, is tell America to **** off and buy marshmallows.

Yes, this is done "gratis".
Is it? See above.
It's also what being a good neighbor looks like, and has looked liked for a long time.

Don't worry, you guys can go back to messing with us once you're not so on fire.

Is it? See above.

You have two planes from us on a contract that had to be extended, due to this disaster. That was nice of us, as we were under no obligation, outside of basic human decency, to do so.

Additionally, the contract does not cover the additional firefighters, nor the additional aircraft - currently two more water bombers and a fire mapping plane.

Here is what is currently on the table, per the Canadian government website:

So yes, it is.
