I wish I could provide an optional short comment to my Thanks so that I could explain what I am thanking the poster for.

• Oftentimes I want to give someone a Thanks because I am grateful for some original source information even if I disagree with the poster's interpretation of it.
  
• When someone across the political divide answers a question of mine, even if I disagree with the answer, I want to give them a Thanks for their courtesy of the reply.
  
• When someone offers a clever, timely response, I want to say Thanks and "Hear! Hear!" without just tacking on another reply which may be out sequence with the current thread status.
