Look, we've had prisons for thousands of years and some of those prisons were in stupid hot places. Texas has had prisons for a couple of hundred years and most of those years there was no air conditioning. People survived back then and they'll survive today. There is a key to dealing with heat and that's keeping hydrated. Even at 45°C you're not going to die if you keep hydrated.
I appreciate your service. I also served in the military. I have paid taxes my entire life.I had to pause after reading your last sentence.
AM I in the category of a real American or am I a member of "MAGA terrorist hordes".?
I'll say 'real American' given I served my country in the military, raised a family, worked and paid taxes for fifty years, and voted
We will have to disagree on this.Republican because the Dems create more government than is necessary so they can control more Americans.

Not really, no.of course heat can affect people - nobody said it didn't
allegedly prisons are "cooking people alive"
little dramatic don't ya think ?
This is all irrelevant.Perhaps more states should emulate Texas with its robust economic growth; it's toughness with illegal migrants; its no state income tax; and its welcome attitude toward corporations who want to leave clumsy blue states like California and New York.
The number of inmates threatened by high temperatures is minuscule compared to the number of incarcerated felons.

again, I'd bet if any died they were already sick, obese, compromised .... the heat of 100 degree days isn't killers
If folks literally dying from the heat is insufficient,
What criteria must be met for you to consider the heat to be considered deadly?
weird people keep trying to focus on the diction of whoever was quoted as if the hyperbole was the significant information in the articleallegedly prisons are "cooking people alive"

The Texas prisons aren't providing water? I was unaware of that and, if that's actually the case, then that is certainly cruel and unusual. That also has nothing to do with the heat because people need food and water to live. If the Texas prisons aren't providing both of those then we need a congressional inquiry. That's IF because I suspect that you're completely wrong about that assertion.Nonsensical bullshit.
Those prisons did not provide those prisoners with water.
Please DO NOT make excuses for what Texas has done.
Nope. This is utter nonsense.
41 people have died as a result of what the State of Texas is doing. Your denials do not change that.
Then there is this:
You are trying to play down the severity of what Texas has done and continues to do.
Not what the conversation was about.
Animal trophies, must be very proud of those. Was it self-defense? Or was it a wanton act?![]()
Not really, no.
People are dying of heat-related issues in Texas and Texas is lying about it to avoid responsibility.
It was 100 degrees at dawn?Oh Yeah, I had to mow my lawn in 100-degree heat last week.

They did not put glass on their buildings.Even the Egyptian pharaohs and provided air conditioning. That's why we are all alive now.
Interestingly enough, Egyptians are generally considered to be the first ones to use glass windows and that started over 2000 years ago. They did not put glass on their buildings.
What is left standing today suggests that they were smart enough not to use it.Interestingly enough, Egyptians are generally considered to be the first ones to use glass windows and that started over 2000 years ago.

"It's not clear how much of a role, if any, the heat played in the 23 deaths," the newspaper continued. "TDCJ spokesperson Amanda Hernandez said last month it is inaccurate to label any death as heat-related before an investigation is complete."
Grand Mal careful. In Canada we have the exact same problems and are jail conditions are not any better. I have been in plenty of prisons as a lawyer on both sides(some say being one I should be in jail as we are all criminals). Trust me some of our prisons are as bad as it gets.Crap attitude. You guys have frail old people in prisons, you have people doing life for pot, you have about 25% of the world's prisoners locked up- their health and safety is your responsibility.
Texas has joined Latin American banana republics and African dictatorships.
Maybe you ought to go medievel- no prisons, just hanging and branding and various degrees of amputation.
NO. I don't mow lawns at dawn. So how would I know?It was 100 degrees at dawn?
Are multiple deaths as the result of BLM-led riots in 2020 one too many? This is all irrelevant.
You're ducking.
Just stop.
One death because of the negligence of Texas is too many.
yesAre multiple deaths as the result of BLM-led riots in 2020 one too many?
So you don't like Gov Abbott because he is tough on illegal aliens?I appreciate your service. I also served in the military. I have paid taxes my entire life.
We will have to disagree on this.
Democrats created regulation to keep corporate scumbags and dishonest business criminals in check. It had nothing to do with controlling anybody. It had to do with keeping scumbags from hurting people.
Texas is not going to murder people by proxy and get away with it. The government of that State must be held absolutely accountable. Their budget surplus needs to be seized and used to put air conditioning in ALL prisons in that state. The rest of it is forfeit and should be donated to charities that help with food banks, abortion services, medical services for the poor, as well as providing schools with new books, computers, and updated facilities.
Gregg Abbott and his co-Nazi Lt. Governor both belong in a cell until they day they die.
I would never expect any poster on this site to throw me a pity party.
