We need to have more common sense responses like this one from my home state.

Couldn't agree more with the decision to arrest the youngster for truancy. And the parents should face consequences for allowing the truancy.

=========================

In Tennessee, there was a young, trans girl who decided not to go to school because the school administration would not allow her to use the washrooms associated with her chosen gender. Because she decided to just stay home instead while she things got figured out, she was reported as truant and law enforcement got involved.

She was on a live-stream with friends at the time, and happened to look up when officers busted into her room and calmly said, “Oh, there’s two police officers who have decided to join the stream.” she then said, “I’m just going to act like they’re not here, because that’s easier.”

Trans Girl arrested for truancy

Apparently, when she was arrested, the officers taunted her by asking, “Are you winning?” granted, she was playing minecraft on the stream with friends, but how on earth is it appropriate to taunt a child that you are arresting?

It’s one thing to taunt someone who has been strung out on the streets for weeks, or a murderer after you’ve apprehended them, but to taunt a transgender child for simply staying home and not causing problems with the administration because they weren’t allowed to use the restroom of their chosen gender by a school administration who could have offered a solution? That’s low.

The OP's obsession with this subject has reached a very sad epic level.

Almost 75 million children under the age of 18 in the United States.

VySky: Look, I found one kid who didn’t go to school AND THEY’RE TRANS!!!!!!!!

Had this happened in NJ, it would be the school facing consequences, not the child.

Strange that people applaud a child/student (that they claim to be “protecting”) being arrested when the child was the one with enough sense to simply stay home rather than cause an issue.

Had the school offered this child even a teacher’s restroom to use, perhaps the entire situation would have been avoided.

In NJ, this wouldn’t pass ADA standards for accommodations, at minimum.

I wonder if the parents will lawyer up and sue. Then again, it is TN.

You have some random links in there that link to stories that have nothing to do with your post.

That's a hilarious response to police entering your room. 10/10 would watch her stream.

I respect her right to nonviolent civil disobedience

What’s even funnier is that TN has very relaxed laws around homeschooling.

This student’s parent can send a simple email to the school stating that they are homeschooling - that the child is no longer enrolled in the district and an “intent to homeschool” form - and that’s the end of the issue.

Sounds to me like the district is on a power trip.

Since when were children arrested for truancy????

IF it gets to be an issue where the courts need to get involved, there's a hearing that the family is summoned to go to--without arrest.

The only time I've heard of a child being taken into custody for truancy is when they're roaming the streets, not calmly at home with their parents.

WTF? :(

I'm glad they arrested her

Let's make her as famous as Rosa parks.

She can join the long list of civil rights leaders that were arrested

Its no different than the TDS threads the lefties inundates the forum with on a daily basis.

I thought they did homeschooling in Tennessee.

That may be a bit of false equivalency, unsure this thread about a trans-girl arrested in Tennessee for truancy has all that much meaning when compared to a former President actively running for another go at it.

And I do find it ironic to suggest Trump is somehow off limits when he clearly uses his platform and means to vilify really all opposition on a daily basis, amplifies the point that TDS really means Trump Defense Syndrome over some blanket argument that the subject of Trump, all the things he does and says, should not be in a political forum with such frequency.

You have totally owned the libs by eliciting mockery and derision, @VySky. Way to go.

Maybe tomorrow you can put a bucket on your head and run down the street naked, farting out the national anthem. That will also get attention. You'll totally own a lib with that.

So we're the kids who marched in Birmingham for civil rights when Bull Connor arrested them

1000 of them

Heroes come in all ages
She wasn't marching, she wasn't even in public. She was shamed into her home by people who think she should risk being bullied and beaten by using a boys bathroom where the HS bubble creates Lord of the Flies mentality.

The marchers made the choice. She made the choice to lead her own private life--and got arrested.

She was breaking the law. And good for her.

I hope she keeps breaking the law.

The fight for civil rights requires sacrifice

lol...The situation could have been avoided alright. Use the RIGHT restroom. Not the WRONG restroom. But no, can't do that.
