Tennessee GOP file resolutions to expel three Democrats who led gun reform chants on House floor

That's "sponsored in the 113th General Assembly"... so that list only goes back as far as a couple of months ago apparently.

Here's what a very very easy quick and simple google search turned up just for Gloria Johnson.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Some Tennesse lawmakers have proposed bills that would have Tennessee join a coalition of states with “Red Flag” laws for gun owners, or people looking to buy a gun.
Rep. Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville) along with Sen. Sara Kyle (D-Memphis) are proposing bills that would allow a court to issue an emergency protection order that would temporarily keep a person from either owning or buying a firearm – if they’re deemed a threat by law enforcement or a family member.

I guess it's not what you thought.
No, it is exactly what I thought. HB1873 died in committee three years ago. Johnson had nothing on the table at the time of her meltdown.

Bullshit. You asked for legislation to be put on the table. Then a guy responded with Bills already introduced, which isn't what you asked for because you asked for legislation to be introduced. You were basically sealion trolling but someone gave an answer you wanted to see to fulfill your snark. I proved your snark was a moving target bullshit narrative.

Baloney. Legislation that died three years ago is not legislation on the table.

Not even to mention the obvious that the republican supermajority were publicly adamant that they were going to do nothing and block anything attempted.

I didn't say it was on the table. I said you moved your target.
I never moved the target. The target was established by me in post #93 where I said:

“So do the 3 soon to be ex lawmakers have legislation to put on the table or were they just screaming because no one else was doing the work for them?”

Deflecting to legislation that died in committee three years ago is a no.

Do the rules in Tennessee allow the removal of legislators from office for the same action?
I believe the rules allow for impeachment by vote, for any reason.

But it is still yet another nauseating example of the rising right wing authoritarianism in this country .

2 of the Representatives just took office (January and February).
So instead of disrupting the legislature they could have been introducing gun control bills? It's not that hard to write them, just change the dates and sponsors.

They can do both. Plenty of hours in a day.

Keep in mind you’re talking to a progressive who thinks Democracy is supposed to be a romper room wherein legislators scream at each other with bullhorns instead of legislate.

Keep in mind that this is a Trumper ^^ who thinks American citizens should be able to shout down state authorities, federal authorities, and the courts. But just the "right" citizens.

Right wingers aren't even bothering to hide their fascism anymore. It's gonna be them or us.
Like going after your political opponents with frivolous indictments? THAT is much more fascist.

Perhaps these legislators were just responding to the thousands of students who left school, came to the capitol and across the state to protest not only the inaction of the legislature but the claim that no problem exists that they can deal with.

Oops, you just called the charges frivolous, even though you don't know the charges or the evidence for them.

Your cultism is showing.

You don't need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, someone famous once said.

Haha.. so you don't need to know shit about shit to know all about it.

Good stuff. Not sure you should be as proud of that as you clearly are.

HB 1292 failed in subcommittee in March of 2021. Since then she's introduced a bill of make it illegal for any child under the age of 12 to possess a firearm unless the person has the permission of the child's parent or guardian, the child is under the supervision of an adult, and the firearm was used for lawful sporting activity;

Johnson has been in office since 2018.

It seems her time would be better spent gathering support for the two bills she's sponsored than disrupting the proceedings of the Tennessee legislature.

There's the key phrase, isn't it? It looks like someone had read Bruen and someone had not.

Likely so. Hopefully they'll learn from the previous mistakes.
Doubtful. The obstructionist pukes on the other side of the aisle will leave them with similar options

"We had a child molester on the floor for years, they helped him get reelected and did nothing to expel him," Johnson said. "We've had members pee in each other's chairs. We've had members illegally prescribe drugs to their cousin-mistress, and nothing happened. But talk on the floor without permission, and you'll get expelled.""

What a hellhole.
I like it when they air the dirty laundry now and then, not that it matters in a deep red state. We'll have to see where it goes. Hopefully they regain their composure and drop this silly resolution. Kids and adults are dead, their loved ones are in mourning, parents and kids are terrified. They should be allowed to sound out.
