Teenagers addicted to cannabis risk damaging their IQ

I do not think it will weaken support for cannabis legalization at all. Nobody is advocating for it to be legal for minors to use. Well nobody that's getting any attention anyway. Of all the legalization movements I've seen it is for adult use only as well as the legalization of industrial hemp. From what I have read the primary risk for adolescents here is use during the formative years affecting the brain. Legalization will not impact teenage use of pot because it will still be illegal for them to possess or use it.

As a direct answer to part two...absolutely. Just like we do with alcohol.

Found this article while browsing the internet. Do you think that this study could weaken support for cannabis?

no. legalization is going to happen, and pot warriors are working overtime to come up with some new reefer madness to shore up the crumbling dam. however, unlike the first time around, most people have actually tried pot and can see how innocuous it is, especially when compared to other legal drugs.

If marijuana is legalized, should age limits be imposed to keep adolescents safe?

yes. it should be legal for adults.

All the reason more to legalize marijuana. The study found that the effects on people who start as adults are only temporary. Minors are the ones most affected. Under prohibition, it is incredibly easy for teenagers to get pot. In high school I found it far simpler to get illegal drugs like weed than alcohol. The reason is simple: dealers do not check for ID. The term "controlled substance" is a joke. The only way to regulate pot to keep it away from kids is to bring it out of the shadows of the black market.

Honestly - you can get more of a buzz or trashed from what's in the kitchen cabinet . . . marijuana is very light weight and not at all a concern of mine, really.

Of the 10 teens that smoked maybe 1 might have future ailments and so that .00001% of the population - sorry - but I just don't give a ****.

There is no, and can be no study of marijuana effects on teens. This is total bologna when you think about it. Who is going to allow a study on teens using only marijuana? no one. Therefore the only study you can perform are surveys where you ask 1000 adults if they used marijuana as teens then correlate that to their current physical health. What teen smokes marijuana and doesn't drink alcohol. Obviously teens shouldn't be using any substance at all before their brains and bodies are completely developed. I would throw in refined sugar and processed wheat as two more of those substances they shouldn't have.

That's just a survey, and 20 years of who know what these kids were into besides pot during that time. Still we're talking addicted users which they don't tell you how many of that 1000 were "addicted". It's a generalization to scare people into voting against. Using on the weekends is nothing like using multiple times a day every day. There are consequences to abusing anything... even Cheetos!

Indeed.

There are more substance abusers that became such through prescription drugs than through marijuana or street drugs.

"I found an article about pot on the internet......"

How many more of these dumbazz threads are we gonna have to endure?

Prescription drugs, alcohol, sugar, salt, high fructose corn syrup, swimming pools, fried foods, McDonalds.......water... they're all deadly.

Life is deadly.
Life is dangerous.

Stop trying to regulate stupid. A guy just died eating cockroaches so he could win a free snake.

Some people thrive, some people don't. It's natural.

Make pot have the same legal status as alcohol. Period.
