Surveillance photo shows officer in sex act: Some may find this photo offensive

the issue is that it APPEARS to be a cop and we have no way of knowing whether he is or is not on duty. just a bunch of people jumping to conclusions

Well, that's one issue. Obviously it wouldn't reflect poorly on the cops if the guy isn't a cop. If he is, even if he's off duty, it reflects poorly on them. Last time I checked it was illegal to **** in a public place.

The officer was just answering the question "Is that a nightstick in your pants or are you just happy to see me?"

You don't even know if he was on duty, firstly.

Secondly, what oath is he breaking? As a private citizen I'm not aware of any oath which states, "You shall not get nookie".

Lastly, if the public chooses to let one incident determine the future of a man without consideration for his performance in the line of duty then shame on the public. Unless his actions caused physical harm or neglect of duty there is no reason to take him off patrol as far as I'm concerned.

Wait...I AM actually pissed about this. I can park 3 miles off a main road, behind a barn at an abandoned farmhouse in the back seat of a truck with tinted windows at midnight and Barney can STILL find me AND cite me for PUBLIC indecency, and THIS asshole is doing this in a public parking lot in broad daylight?

I had a friend once who would park on the top level of a mall parking garage and get busy with her boyfriend. During the day she never got caught. The one time they went up after dark they were busted. Go figure.

Last time I checked it was illegal to **** in a public place.

Thus proving that breaking the law is fun. I'll go home tonight and fire up a Cubano while thinking of that.

Oh sh*t, son...lot of mattress tags gonna be ripped off tonight.

it is/was also illegal to commit adultery in washington DC

Tess are you serious...I dont care if it was his mother...I dont care if he was on duty or NOT...he was in uniform and it was broad daylight in the publics eye...you can sing and dance and do pirouettes and you cant clean that up. You obviously do not know anything about police protocols and rules and regulations...and you certainly shortchanging the publics view on all incidents of police misbehavior....
Nope sorry you can poohpooh this away with, Oh he was just banging his GF on the hood of a car in broad daylight full uniform with his firearm at his side...NO biggy...its cool....not a chance tess

Oh goodness me, you rebel!

I'm saying that it is absolute bull**** on behalf of those who would call for this man's head on a platter without knowing a damn thing about the situation. We don't know who he is, what he is, whether or not he was on duty at the time, or any other circumstances other than it appears he's giving some chick a good dickin' on the hood of a car.

I am not a sheep. I don't enjoy joining the group of village moralists, demanding "justice" and threatening the police commanders into taking drastic (over-re)action to pacify me. This man probably made a mistake. I do not think (and have no logical reason to) that this man is a reflection of the millions upon millions of other cops in this country. Just like the asshole cop who pulled me over at 230am and searched my car because he saw a "weapon" in the back seat isn't a reflection of the millions upon millions of other cops in this country.

People are human. People **** up. A misdemeanor offense without further evidence of significant misconduct is a stupid reason to tar and feather anybody, cop or not.

just because you happen to be caught by a camera doesn't mean you are in the public eye. I have banged many a girlfriend on the hood of a car. in a cemetary, in the walmart parking lot, in the school parking lot, many places that you would consider "public". however, there were no other people around.

if the camera hadn't been there, no one would have ever known. the tard who set up the camera should have turned the tape over to the authorities (after making a copy for personal use) instead of...surprise...selling it to the local media.

Geeezus..some people would bitch if you hung them with a new rope. Beat some thug up with a nightstick...people complain. Engage in a healthy community outreach program, people complain. Come on...what exactly do you WANT from cops???

Haha. I don't think I'd call for him being fired less the sex was being used as a way to subvert punishment like a ticket or something like that. If it was consensual and not an act of abusing power, sure I'd say maybe a couple weeks off or some punishment of that nature. But not fired. Fired is for all the cops beating homeless people to death, the ones abusing power and falling to corruption. If cops having sex with their girlfriends/wives while on the job was the worst problem we had out of our police force; we'd be sitting pretty.

It's a bit astonishing though that so many people in this case would say "fire him!!!!!" but I don't see as much responses/outrage when officers are caught actually breaking laws or assaulting people. And hardly anyone calls for criminal punishment. So how's this, maybe not fire this guy. But what would a normal person be charged with if found to be having sex in a public place? Give him that.

from the angle of the shadows and the lighting. these photos appear to have been taken either near sunrise or sunset. and you really can't tell squat from the uniform. black with some kind of shoulder patch...could be a mall rent-a-cop for all we know.

My ex works for a security firm that uses navy-blue uniforms with red piping at the pockets/button tabs. They also have a heavy-force group who carry weapons (they're the ones providing bank security, or WTC security in Dallas)....from a distance they almost look like cops and from the back you wouldn't be able to tell.

So, then this is an old picture of you and him?

LOL. No.

I don't have a thing for men in uniform (I can't stand the style/color/texture), for one.

Secondly, my ex was shorter, fatter, and had an issue with showering. We didn't have sex.

First, it was too easy to pass up. Second, WHY would you date some one that didn't shower?

much ado about nothing. unless the guy or girl comes forward and confesses, there is no way to prove anything. unless they have better rez photos that they aren't showing, there is no way to identify the guy. from what they said on the news report, these pics were taken at some ranch. probably out in the middle of nowhere (which is probably why the couple went there). it's not like this happened in the middle of the day at a place where passersby would be likely to see them.

they should bitch slap whoever released the tape/pics to the public for being a little snitch.

No, it isn't/wasn't a crime to commit adultery in DC.

you must be a really crappy lawyer, to not know the law... :lamo

I didn't know when we started dating. He'd always shower before we hung out, so I just assumed hygiene wasn't an issue. Then I stayed w/him for awhile to help him with transportation to/from work and I learned that his showering habits had been deceptive. I made him sleep in the living room the entire time I was staying with him. I took his bed.

Consensual sex between adults... where is the problem? You should get pissed off at a cop abusing his authority, not because he's getting laid.

Naw, not when it's surveillance and reporting of the authority. Even if we all don't really want to/can't do anything about it. Someone has to police the police.

Uhh... so, what's the big deal?
Like you wouldn't do a colleague in the office during work hours, if you had the chance, huh? :angel?:

what's to police? did she file a complaint? were they trespassing? were they destroying private property?
