Surgeon General insults Afro Americans

This is why modern liberalism has destroyed the true intention of liberalism, we manufacture outrage just to satisfy the PC policy that *has to be* outraged about something.

The truth is we do see a disproportionate social and economic impact to the black community in so many ways it is becoming absurd, and when something like coronavirus comes along and amplifies that we see the immediate response is to be upset about something instead of really listening.

It is wise no matter if we are dealing with a pandemic or not for minority communities to avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs because the numbers are staggering for those communities.

It is neither prejudiced or racists (or "Uncle Tom") to point out words they themselves would use to talk about their families such as "do it for your granddaddy, do it for your big mama, do it for your pop pop" or whatever else.

Perhaps Jerome Adams is just not black enough for today's liberalism, how remarkably sad that this is what we are talking about and probably just because he is part of the Trump Administration.

Uncle Tom goes up a notch:

"...do it for your big mama,"

He could have addressed the black community as if they weren't halfwits.

It is not uncommon for politicians to speak differently when addressing different audiences, Obama and Hillary both did so, but since they are not republicants or working for (under?) Trump that gets a pass. I find that technique to be deceptive (thinking that makes them seem somehow "more connected" with that group) but not racist.

People have gotten to damn sensitive. I read the linked article. I did not find the SG statements to be offensive. Reporters really need to take a look at how and what they are reporting.

Well, we know his attitude towards minorities probably was a favorable factor in Trump choosing him for Surgeon General. Just like Trump picked Robert Redfield as CDC Directory, who had/has similar attitude towards certain "groups" of human beings.

Yes, if the intersectional identity political left would spend more time heeding MLK Jrs. dream and less time manufacturing outrage our country would be a lot stronger and a much better place to live.

Obesity is a huge risk factor for the virus. Poor people have a higher incidence of obesity. A lot of minorities are poor.

To be fair, it's not like he did something REALLY racist, like calling it the Chinese Flu! :lamo

I have to 100% agree. I just listened to the entire context of his statement, and there's nothing wrong with it whatsoever. It's just trying to start up some bull**** with no need to.

Reporters really need to take a look at how and what they are reporting.

They know exactly what they're doing. Bull**** is an art in reporting.

If the article is correct and Dr Fauci said the SG did not make any offendive comments then one can safely assume Fauci thought the comments were offensive

We don't know any sort of a thing. Probably or otherwise.

It's weary recognition, not "outrage"; it is Uncle Tom. Your "they themselves" reference says something about you.

This is just more of that stupid idiot leftist **** that shrieks 'RACIST!!!" when they have nothing else to say (which is pretty much always). But then, to many of those mindless ****heads, "racism" is all they know.

I agree. imo, the "news media" reports stories based on their political leans. They tend to editorialize more stories than report just the facts.

I think they're just looking for a headline here. Clearly, with the full context of the statement, it's about as inoffensive as you can get.

"Now, black folk, here's what we need you to do. In between the mustard greens and the watermelon, think of big mama."

Great job, whitey.

Honestly, I really don’t care what he said. He is trump’s token negro who was put up there to talk to minority communities to get minority votes. Otherwise, trump would not have addressed the disparities of blacks and whites when it relates to COVID 19 deaths

"Afro" Americans.

:lamo

Such self pwnage.

Hopefully nobody at that level of government is that stupid. Chinese Flu? That'd be like calling HIV the African Flu.

Yeah, he's almost as much a racist as President Obama when he specifically chastised black men for not staying with their children - as if no man like his white half ever left his family and children. All least you and I can agree we're glad the racist President Obama is gone!

Before people realized Black people were suffering from COVID-19 at high rates, the conversation was about testing and care. Now that we're learning how many victims are Black, it's about personal responsibility. This train is never late.
