Supreme Court blocks vaccine mandate for large businesses

They are showing signs of their desperation. I can't imagine what type of bribe they are gonna offer Manchin and Sinema to bow down and kiss the ring, but if you see them caving in you can be certain it was a "deal they can't refuse" (said in Don Correlone voice).

Ultimately Manchin and Sinema may save the democrat party from itself. If not, I expect the democrat party will ultimately go the way of the WHIG party or be reduced to a fringe 3rd party.

Right, so nothing on top of what most of the country is already doing.
The problem isn't what "most of the country" is doing. It's the massive antivaxxer and republican-driven campaign to avoid vaccination that's the problem.

Opinion
Have any substantive comments to add or better yet answer the question that was raised?

However, I will play along for just a moment. If you are saying that Jacobson ruling led to eugenics, that is a very strong argument for the court to rule just the way they did. In Jacobson, the right of the State to force vaccinations was upheld. If the Federal government were allowed to force vaccinations, you have just opened the same gate but it is one BIG gate and not 50 smaller ones. Pick a side, you for or against forced vaccinations?
I'm against forced vaccinations and I'm against the Jacobson decision. This shouldn't be justified regardless of whether it came from federal or state mandates. The states would have more power than the federal government on this matter, but Jacobson needs to be put into context because it has been used to justify a lot of the state's emergency powers during covid. There's a lot of problems relying on Jacobson. The court's majority were segregationists and the decision was later used to help justify forced sterilization and Japanese internment. It's laid dormant for a while because it's an embarrassment of a decision whose logic is not something we should allow to be upheld going forward. It gets called upon when the government is doing something it shouldn't. It's also important to note that the Smallpox vaccine had been around for a century and long term side effects were observed. The fine was also relatively small ($5, which is about $150 today). It wasn't a decision that took away your family's livelihood. I think it's ironic people are talking about forced vaccinations at a time when 95 percent of cases are from a relatively non-lethal variant and the alternative of testing is something that has become unreliable due to the same administration's fumbles in procuring tests.

Too bad Biden has no campaign or strategy to increase vaccinations. May as well not even be there if all he's going to do is fixate on bills that won't pass.

Keep drinking the kool-aide. You obviously have no clue.
If it's as obvious to you as you claim, I'd expect you'd back it up with some substance. Therefore, I gather you can't.

I think the dinosaurs of the DNC can read the tea leafs and fearfully know that the likes of AOC are the future of the Party. They might not like it, but they will do everything in their power to make sure someone with a D behind their name holds onto the reins. It's really not what's best for America; it's whatever gives them control over the sheep while they continue to reap the profits gained from their masters.

I totally missed context of your original reply.

But don't you realize that he's looking for ways to distract from the failure of stopping the one thing that got him elected - covid.

I hope it does, truly, and takes the USS GQP right along with it, to the briny deep.
With its moronic Captain, bone spurs donnie trump, still lashed securely to its wheel.

I could TOTALLY support THAT!!!!💯

Back at ya.

What has any Democrat done that has proven to end covid?
My point was that no politician regardless of party has done anything that can be documented as success at ending the pandemic. I can't provide anything of substance because I do not believe it exists. You are welcome to prove otherwise.

When you stop thinking with the thing between your legs get back to me.

Yes, the pandemic is antivaxxer and Republican driven.
I would disagree, especially with the science pointing out that fully vaccinated individuals not only carry the virus ... they succumb to the virus. Lower percentage against unvaccinated, but it's stupid to suggest that vaccinated individuals are "free and clear." They have and spread the virus and it contradicts the purpose of a vaccine.

The only issue that the SCOTUS was supposed to decide was whether the Executive Branch had the authority to impose mandates for workers. How can they have decided that it was ok to impose mandates for health care workers but not other workers? This Supreme Court is indeed legislating from the bench -- as if they if they had the right to decide on the whether they liked the policy, not whether it was constitutional or not.
Cmon. Federal money to Medicare/Medicade providers can be made "conditional" - happens all the time
It's a bad idea IMHO - but Constitutional, unlike an imposition of mandate on private business

I never claimed that....I'd like to WRECK that chick!!

She's got great cans, all that AND she's a Socialist!! YESSSS!!!!

TDS is destroying any objectivity on your part. It was RINOs as well as establishment politicians in both parties that created Trump. The democrat party is on the ropes because they go bat shit crazy every time they gain control and they lurch to the far left. The republican party has been on the ropes because they have been stepping away from their conservative roots for the last three decades and became librul-lite. Trump simply tapped into a grassroots populist movement against status quo politics in Washington DC. For survival, the GOP merely needs to honor their own conservative platform rather then just dusting it off in election seasons. Trump is saving the republican party from itself. Manchin and Sinema may be saving the democrat party from itself. We'll see.

One reason he's making voting rights an issue right now is because the minority half of the Democrat party is pissed that they once again elected a "moderate" who immediately forgets them and shifts all his attention to a bunch of white progressive, pie in the sky bs.

Without a strong leader, the pack will tear itself up trying to vie for dominance.

Requiring masks at businesses and schools.

We know what the conservatives thought of that prevention.

Requiring vaccines to ease our over run hospitals.
What do Republican governors feel about this? Do they care if they can't provide medical care to their state because their hospitals are over run with people refusing a vaccine?
My Republican governor, Mr. Ducey of AZ has made it a class 3 misdemeanor for businesses to require vaccination or mask mandates and the kicker is, as a business owner I have to pay for their sick ass. I've already had one employee with long Covid. It's pricey. Plus, when ever there is an exposure, I get to pay for them all to stay home. How is that helping my small business?

  • Any county, city, town or political subdivision official that implements a vaccine mandate contrary to the authorities outlined in this order, is in violation of A.R.S. 36-114 and 36-184 and such actions are punishable by a class 3 misdemeanor and subject to legal action by individuals for violation of their rights under Arizona law; and
  • Any county, city, town or political subdivision official that fails to provide earned sick leave to an employee if it is recommended that the employee stay home due to exposure to COVID-19, is in violation of the Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act and action may be taken by individuals pursuant to the Act in the courts or through the Industrial Commission.

I have more but I think you can list a few of yours, since you claimed a back at you with nothing on your end to back it up. What have the Republicans done to help save lives and stop spread of Covid during this pandemic?

Lol - just made the same point.

Yes, exactly. People were sick of being lied to by politicians who told them what they wanted to hear to get elected and then did nothing. We've seen it on both sides of the aisle.

While I disagree with the opinion of the court, some here seem to think this means companies can not REQUIRE vaccines for their employees anyway. That is not true at all..

I would consider that statuatory rape. While AOC has the body of a woman, she has the mind of a child.
