Could someone tell me how people who set standards but sometimes fall short are worse people than those who never set any standards and do whatever they want? i've never understood that.

I think the parents are aware that owners and operators are subject to the same flaws they sre.

I don't know how many were banking on the President of the University sitting in the corner and watching his wife have sex with another man.

But maybe some of the students there will follow in his footsteps.

So in your mind its better to be a lying hypocrite than just a heathen? Interesting, seeing as to how only one of those two is trying to enforce upon society rules that they themselves have no intention of ever following.

It becomes a matter of hypocrisy. People that take a leadership role a moral community such as a church, that sets standards and hold others accountable take on the responsibility to live lives that are beyond reproach. In order to have credibility in their position, they must be righteous people. Integrity is about what you do when others do see.

Falwell had a position of authority and respect with the Christian community. He was in a position of trust. He was well (too well, actually) compensated for that. The greater the authority and stature, the greater the responsibility for he to live up to those ideals. He took the compensation; but in the end did not even deliver what he expected from others. He violated the trust of his position. People like that deserve the humiliation that comes from the fall from grace. A $10M severance package, however, is too much cushion for fall. Falwell deserves humiliation, especially given he was a complete coward unable to live up to professing his own shortcomings. The man give Christians a bad name, and by extension, he disgrace Christ.

The President of the University should be at least held accountable to the Code of Conduct he oversees. I was not a big Game of Thrones watcher, but one episode I did see had a naked woman walking through the city stark naked while everyone yelled "shame" and spat upon her. That seems fitting for Falwell.

It seems obvious why Falwell and Trump have become friends. They each think they are above the law that they are in charge to uphold. Falwell is as deplorable a creature as his friend Donald Trump. I'm not sure I see much difference in character.

Bill was not proclaiming himself a moral leader of god.............unlike Falwell and other religious hypocrites. I really don't care what consenting adults do but don't claim that you are a moral leader who rules with the power of god and try to tell others how they can live and legislate their mythology while they live like Caligula away from the limelight.
 
i have never cheated on my wife, never had her screw another man and never sat in the corner rubbing myself while she did.




and i don't have to write rules down for other people and how they should act.

Its not about failing it is about being a hypocrite asshole and the condemnations those assholes dispense to those who they do not like. You do the same here too.

they shouldn't be shocked that the President of one of the largest couple of private Christian Universities in the US has a President who was sitting in the corner rubbing himself while another man screwed his wife for years?


holy cow. that makes me think even less of that university/the parents/the students/the alumni.

and yet this man ran Liberty University for almost 20 years while preaching what students there couldn't couldn't do. hell, i don't even think they allow dances.



but, he has a get out of jail free card with you and most Christians. none of us are perfect no matter how much we preach that it's critical to be moral. rape and kill a 2yo girl today. be saved tomorrow. die the next day. enter heaven.
