STFU It Was a Ride

Gayle needs to get over herself. Many other women, real astronauts, have gone to space.

And BTW to be considered an astronaut you have to do something astronaut-ish during the mission. Passengers along for the ride don't count according to FAA rules.
Gayle is not an astronaut, she was self loading luggage.

I saw one good comment somewhere a day or two ago to the effect that two astronauts were stuck in space for 9 months, and Katy Perry is up for 10 minutes and kisses the ground like she hasn't touched the earth forever.

It's almost like someone preplanned what they were gonna do for the cameras.

Cynical….

Compares herself to Alan Shepard, Gail, please…..

CNN does call it a ride when a man goes up for space tourism:

"Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson each took supersonic joy rides to the edge of space, finally bringing their competing private-sector spacecraft into operation after around two decades of promises. Celebrities such as 90-year-old “Star Trek” actor William Shatner and “Good Morning America” co-host Michael Strahan followed soon after."

William Shatner isn't considered a serious astronaut any more than King is. He is an actor who played an astronaut on TV and film, who took a joy ride to space.

Somebody said that if they can call themselves astronauts for spending a few minutes in space, he can call himself a gynecologist.

I can call myself a mechanic as well.

Yeesh, talk about a crap perspective. Perhaps she needs to compare the preparation she had to take a quick trip to space and then compare it to the years of training astronauts endure just to get the the program, and then the training to become astronauts. This has nothing to with her being a woman, and the fact she doesn't realize that is pretty sad.

I see no problem with wanting to call it a flight. I go on flights all the time, just not into space.

Don't know that I'd be comparing myself to Alan Shepard, but taking a rocket into space is still certainly more dangerous than the 926 to D.C.

Reagan National is having problems lately

By their logic I can call myself a pilot because I have ridden on an airplane.
Real, actual astronauts go through months, sometimes years of training.
They paid for an expensive cool ride.
That is it.
If I did the "Mission to Mars" ride at Disney, does that mean I went to Mars? Does that make me a Martian? 😆

I haven't noticed. Of course, coming from Atlanta, pretty much every airport I fly into is small and relatively easy to get through.

You don’t keep up with the news?
