STDs At All-Time High, Chlamydia Sets Record

Very interesting. Could it be the higher number because of more people getting tested or is it just the diseases are spreading more? Where I live in Omaha, they are reporting an STD epidemic among young people. Why such a sudden surge, is it more younger people are having unprotected sex and why would that be? Are they just naive about the diseases or is it uneducation? I know when I was younger I thought I was untouchable and didn't always practice safe sex. When I was 17, I got chlamydia and that changed my whole perspective and I never did have unprotected sex after that, unless I was in a formed commited relationship taking birth control. It's sad that it seems to take getting the disease for young people to be safe but with these increasing rates, how can we fix them?

They are always reporting and STD epidemic among young people.

Maybe because it just keeps rising with no decline ever being reported. That's not good, considering all the funding we have for sex education. Oh wait, abstitence is the policy, not safe sex or education about it :doh

10 years ago, much fewer people got tested for STD's. Now, they have STD testing days set up in college dorms.

It's not really a surprise to me that they're discovering more infections nowadays.

True ive been ****in much older women since i was 18 every now and again and they are easier than anyone so im sure its not just young people.

What a society that promotes sex has lots of STDS? Say it ain't so?

Im sure Holland promotes sex by Americans standards yet they dont get as many STDS.Maybe its a society that treats sex as something dirty that ends up with more STDS

Yeah, I had that **** too, twice.
At least it's easy to get rid of, unlike some.

I'd be interested to know the STD rates in Sweden... you know, the country with the highest chance to have a one night stand, receive oral, and participate in an orgy.

:2wave:

Just sayin' maybe it boils down to education or lack thereof

or maybe it just makes rating-grabbing sensationalist news

Each time or place std rates increase, it is sensational enough to be 'newsworthy'. Each place it goes down slightly, or stays the same it is not.

this means that u hear about it going up often 9in differing contexts0, but where it goes down, u will likely hear nothing.

The same principle applies to a great many things in the new media. On all sides of the politicalspectrum and upon all nature of issues, sensationalism sells, and creates a warped perspective in the process.

p.s. i am not saying std rates are not on the increase altho I suspect that this is not a very simple process (compared to when, diagnosis rates, which wtd's, among what demographics etc). Just alluding to a process that undoubtably plays a roll in everyone of our eprspectives on this issue and many others.

Perhaps because kids now seem to be sleeping with anything and everything?

Quite a connection i made there.

When kids have 30+ partners before they are 21 ... odds are they will get more diseases.
