I've started watching YouTube videos of people playing Star Citizen, and even with all the glitches, the game is damn impressive.

Every time I watch a new video it seems like a new game. It's probably a bit too involved for me. I don't have the time commitment to get the most out of the game... but it makes for some good videos!

13 years, half a billion dollars spent and it's still not a full game. Even typing this post is more time than anyone should spend on star citizen

I will love to play it if it ever comes out. The Bethesda game may come out first though.

It's vaporware.

It's vaporware.

It really isn't. The amount of content available in this vaporware is more than most full release games. Watch the video I posted above of people playing on one small part of one planet... also the same group escaping from prison in another video. The amount of content is amazing.

I decided to go ahead and get a copy after watching hours of content video, and was surprised when the launcher said the install package was 12 GB.. it seems small until it was done installing and started downloading the first content pack that was 75 GB.

What is missing is the story driven single player game, but that isn't really necessary to enjoy the game.

Haha. The 75 GB patch is complete... now on to the next patch!

It was only about a GB...

Into the game! (maybe!)

Have you tried X4 yet?

I figured out how to get out of my room and wandered around the starting hotel, eventually made my way to the lobby and outside. I then found a metro map and took the metro to where I think my ship is and then got called away for work.

Excellent first gaming session! 😆

I have it, its very playable as an Alpha. Its not ready for release.

Its definetly not. I can hop on right now, walk around a city, get in my ship, walk around inside it, fly to another planet, land, walk around the land, go into a habitat. And many other things.

Basically I agree, to an extent. Right now the game is a lot like Sea of Thieves... it's a big sandbox into which the players create the game. I like games like that, personally, but I can see where people would want something more focused.

I'm the guy who will also buy Starfield on day one knowing it will be buggy and hell but enjoy the hell out of it anyway.

Is that the new Bethesda game coming supposedly this year?

Yeah. It looks like a cross between Outer Worlds, Fallout and No Man's Sky.

300+ planets to explore, modular space ship and weapon crafting... deep RPG character development. Outa be a pip.

It's one of those games where everything looks so customizable that the game will be gloriously unbalanced. By about 50 hours of play time I want to be able to one-shot the galaxy.

Star Citizen is a playable game with tons of active orgs, tournaments, and an incredibly high skill ceiling.

Even if there were no Persistent Universe at all, and they never changed another thing, Arena Commander mode alone is by far the best space combat game ever made.

I have a question about SC: Can the game be bought and played now, without having to pay for additional patches or content which might be added on later?

Follow up question: Will the game ever be completely finished? ;)
It seems to be in development for years now. I'm sure the scope of the game is (or will be) massive.

Can you acquire all the ships without microtransactions?

Most of them now, eventually all of them. When they roll out a new ship during alpha it is only available as a pledge for a while, but is then available to purchase in game later.

It has raised $500 million which you'd think is enough, but WOW was getting over a billion annually at its peak and they still managed to regularly miss expectations.

They seem to have a neat system during alpha for giving you access to new ships. You can rent the ships with in game currency (or free, depending on the ship) and take them out for a spin. Active servers pitch major space battles with rented ships like a crash up derby full of Enterprise rent-a-cars where the drivers got the extra insurance.

When they add a lot of new ships they host an in game arms expo the you can visit to learn about the ships. I'll see if I can find the video I saw about it..
