We live in a Republic with democratic elections. What Americas 'want' is represented by the current make-up of the House and the Senate. I want more of a balance and will cast future votes accordingly.
We don't live in a direct democracy--I'm not sure everyone attending these Town Halls understand this.

Rudeness at public meetings is a well-established American tradition, though we don't do it as well as the Brits, who routinely throw rotten produce.

They are protesting the democratic process. They are going to forums and disrupting a democratic civil debate. WHY NOT DEBATE the issues. Fine, protest the health care plan, but lets talk about why. You don't have to yell, bring guns, draw swastikas on congressmen's signs, or protest a meeting. Town hall meetings are A FORUM FOR DEBATE. Yelling at a civil meeting is in fact unamerican. Is that even arguable?
I believe that a lot of this "outrage" is orchestrated. The disruption is deliberate and not because it reflects the genuine dissatisfaction of the people, but because the authors of the disruption would like it to appear that way.
It's much easier to turn a town hall discussion on it's ear than it is to put together a march on Washington. But you have enough town hall meetings go south because some folks decide they are going to yell and scream and act like morons instead of intelligently addressing the issues they have...well that gets better airplay.
There is zero evidence that these things have any likelihood to be put into the health care plan currently under consideration. Suggesting otherwise is misleading. You would be quick to call a liberal trying to do something like that.

The wacko fringe that are showing up disrupting these meetings are not representative of America. They are representative of the same wacko fringe that Sarah Palin used to attract.
The public overwhelmingly was in favor of healthcare reform until the insurance companies and the right-wing radio nuts began their campaign of distortions (ala...death panels and kill granny).
The right-wing once again has shown that they are very very good at using the politics of fear and distortion to sway that segment of the population that doesn't educate themselves and can be influenced with 10 second sound bites.
We will get healthcare reform....despite the efforts of the insurance corporations. The only question will be whether it will be meaningful change or just a bandaid.

But this isn't about healthcare. This is about control. Obama doesn't give a rip about providing Americans with better healthcare; he wants to CONTROL their healthcare, making them even more dependent than his constituents already are on government. That ensures more elections for the Democrats.
He's failing miserably. Gitmo, Iraq, stimulus, cap and tax, unemployment.....
Meanwhile, the stock market is creeping upward. It crashed in fear when it realized this joke was going to win the presidency, and now it's rebounding because it's hopeful that his agenda is crashing and his popularity is drying up.

Most Americans, Mr. Specter, are against the plan. They are more "representative of America" than you and your ilk.The wealthy American may be against any change, and this has been the case for a very long time.
The poor and the ever shrinking "middle class" do want a better system.
We have to look to the more socially advanced nations in Europe and Canada for this.
A man has to be either blind and or insulated from real life to not see that things are not as good as they should be.. Our health care is not patient friendly, not efficient, and is corrupted with greed from patients and doctors and lawyers.
I'd like to see the insurance, as we know it, GO.
