When there are MAGA Republicans like MTG and Lauren Boebert demanding the release of the Epstein files, then none of this is going to end well for Trump.

There are currently 11 House Republicans that will vote Yes on a bill co-sponsored by Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) to demand release of all files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

This news terrified House Speaker Mike Johnson so much that he shut down Congress and began Congress' August Recess early. But this is not going away.

Trump's presidency is effectively over....whether he remains in office for the next 3 1/2 years or not.

It's desperation. Everyone knows the GOP is hiding this to protect Trump. You know it, you're just desperately deflecting. That's what I really love the most. Your desperation. Trump's supporters are in a blind panic because it's obvious now they don't have a choice except to publicly defend a pedophile rapist.

And you will. You will keep defending him. I'm curious whether this defense will continue only online, or if you're going to let everyone around you find out just how low you will go.

The Republicans knew he was walking on the set of Miss Teen USA to inspect the merchandise. That wasn't a deal-breaker. I don't know why this would be either. In the U.S., anything done by a person who is poor enough is a felony: a homeless person sleeping, or peeing. And anything done by a person who is rich enough is a virtue. By getting away with an Epstein extravaganza, Trump shows himself to be in the highest echelon of wealth and power. By prosperity theology, that means God loves him very, very much, and people should follow him as a Prophet of Profit and worship him the way they used to worship Jesus.

We should also note that it was only 2001 that Hawaii raised its age of consent from 14. The U.S. traditionally was not dogmatic that the 18th birthday was a magical change in status. Republicans, seeking to repopulate the country with purebred Americans, no immigrants allowed, before Social Security goes under, have some reason to press for a backtrack on the whole age of consent thing anyway.

In Iowa, the general age of consent to engage in sexual conduct is 16. However, girls may consent to sex at age 14 as long as their partner is no more than 5 years older. If their partner is more than five years older, of course, a girl cannot consent and her partner would guilty of statutory rape.

Sorry to interrupt this circle, um, therapy session, but there's still a consideration to be addressed. If the Trump DOJ is in possession of information that indicates Trump was a client of Epstein, then it's almost a certainty that Biden's DOJ was also in possession of that same information. Are we to believe the Democrats, behind in the polls and facing the prospect of running either Joe Biden or Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, had this information on Trump and decided not to leak it?

Oh yeah, there is definitely a reason previous admins haven't leaked the list even though they probably had it. There are names from both sides on that list.

Explain how Johnson is so terrified of a vote on this issue that he ended Congress' session early is a "non-story".

Explain how total MAGA acolytes like MTG and Boebert disagreeing with Trump is a "non-story".

Biden's DOJ rightfully prosecuted Trump over his far more serious crimes....like Jan 6. And the Jan 6 Committee had to twist timid Merrick Garland's arm just to get that sorry AG to do even that.

... and after that failed to stop Trump, and after it was clear Trump had a considerable lead in the polls in the spring and summer of 2024, you think the Democrats said to themselves "Well, yes, we could prove Trump was a client of Epstein's child prostitution ring, but let's be honest, it's not going to do any good."

The things you folks can convince yourselves of is just remarkable.

Which is also ridiculous since incitement is an incredibly hard charge to prove. Many also think that Trump was right to claim the election was rigged (I am not among them), so public sympathy would be mixed.

No one, repeat, no one in their right mind defends a pedophile. The idea that Democrats would "choose" a Jan 6 charge over and Epstein-related charge is ludicrous. At a minimum, they would have done both.
