When I was a practicing pediatrician I would recommend to parents that a few quick swats on the tochas are ok if the child is engaging in behavior that is dangerous. It’s not really spanking per se but just a way to get the child’s attention.
There is no solid evidence that real spanking is effective as a disciplinary measure. It won’t get the parent what they want. There are far more effective ways to achieve behavior change.
