There is middle ground between Haitians eating people’s dogs and cats. It’s a binary, they either are or not. The entire accusation was a lie, so the decent thing to do is accept it was a malicious lie. There is not some cheat code to common decency where you just say you are open to evidence and you don’t know either way.

The point is to push violence. That's why any protester peacefully making their voices heard should immediately turn these people in the second they start. They hurt the protest more than they hurt anything else I wouldn't be surprised if some right wingers were hiring these people to turn it violent. It's one of the best ways to get the people to turn against the protest.
