It's easy on the eyes, but if something is typed in color, you have to highlight to read it. Worth the extra step, IMO.

In recent years I've gotten into dark backgrounds. Like you said, easier on the eyes, and much more relaxing at night in a darkened room.

Well that sucked. ..... :ROFLMAO: .....

Yes and I've had the "shades of blue" for a long time and I like it a lot.

I've used dark backgrounds everywhere I can for eons. The white screen is loud to me and blaring.

Plus I always prefer to look at white words on dark. And yes, when someone does red or purple text color I need to highlight it to read it with ease which sometimes can be a mild nuisance but nothing more.

Top of the list though is to kill all eyesore signatures and their grotesque space. I put a sig for the sake of it but I haven't seen a sig for years and years which is great. Nice clean page every time.

You can hide everyone's signatures in your Preferences, if that helps.

I did that right away years ago, in 2014 to be exact.

This is what I posted about signatures.....

Going forward I'll try to simplify my statements and even to spell 'em out so that even the bottom 10% of the class can get what I write.

Sorry, didn't mean to ruffle your feathers there, teach.

We've successfully upgraded our forum software and enhanced search to the latest versions even though it took a little longer than expected. There are some new features we will be testing out and we will make announcements as those are implemented. We are currently optimizing our 400,000+ photos and this should complete later today. This may present a temporary issue with images not loading properly or slowly.

A feedback thread has been posted where any issues that you may be having can be addressed.

Thank you for your patience and we are glad to be back up and running.
I don't seem to be able to use tools, e.g. bold, italics, font size/color while writing posts. Nor can I attach images.

Test of italics, font size and color.

Hrrmm... anyone else have this issue?

The sites are still extremely slow when loading - and lagging constantly for a minute or so ... the pictures/avatars for users are not loading either.

The problem is not just on my iPad, but also on my desktop PC ...

Does it need more server space ?

Is it only for non-US users ? Is it faster for US users ?

The whole thingy has improved for me here in the USA.

My only snag since the upgrade and always using a desktop and a VPN is with the Notices that someone has quoted me or given a Like to one of my posts. When I click on the Notice function it is slow, the username at the top comes up alongside the Notice list of usernames in a small window that is the box each of us have with each post. I reload and it's okay.

Signing in is more effective now but I still get the stall that includes a L to R visible flow across the top of the page that says I have to wait. Since the upgrades this is less than it was before. This is whether or not I use a privacy mode window and whether or not I have show tabs where I left off.

DP was down this morning from approximately 5:15am CT to 5:25am CT.

Confirmed by Is It Down For Just Me Or Down For Everyone?

And in case it is useful I grabbed this:

EDIT: JST, of course.

  • We will be rebooting the server at approximately 5:15 AM ET on 5/29/25 (Thursday). We should be back up and running in approximately 30 minutes.

Yeah, maybe this will help with the lagging picture/avatar loading and speed of the site.

Closing this thread as the software update has been a success. The software update has nothing to do with the website performance.

This thread is open where we are updating the issue.
