The GOP is fully aware that Demographics doom them nationally in the long run. They tried to rectify that after Romney's lose to Obama in 2012 where they did their "autopsy report" that showed they need to gain minority support, particularly hispanics, to be competitive in the long run. This is why they attempted to back amnesty friendly GOP presidential candidates in 2016, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, etc, but the GOP base demanded Trump and his race baiting/nationalist politics. And with the Romney's and Bush's being pariahs in today's GOP...in order to survive you can't be an amnesty friendly GOP candidate, or dare say anything negative about dear leader Trump.

Ironically, the only time since 1988 a GOP presidential candidate won the popular vote was Bush in 2004, and it was largely because of his 44% support among hispanics, a record for a GOP candidate that still stands today. They'll never come close to that again because their majority white base won't allow another candidate like Bush (who embraced a pathway to citizenship) to win the nomination again.

That's a really good question. In nearly all communities of high crime, low income and crummy education we see Democrats in charge. We also see TONS of "government assistance" in these communities. Maybe the Democrats have managed to engineer a society where the dependence on their party makes it really, really difficult for people to move on to something better.
