There are seven fundamental tenets of Satanism

I
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

II
The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

III
One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

IV
The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.

V
Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

VI
People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

VII
Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

How many christian types actually abide by those rules these days? Or republicans?

I can honestly say I understand that much more than christianity.

Calling this "Satanism" is unnecessarily provocative. It would more appropriately be called the tenets of modernity.

Doesn't sound very Satanic to me...where's the animal/human sacrifices, summoning demons, casting spells?

Sounds eerily similar to the tenants of christianity....

STILL not buying anything made by a Satanic designer. Nope.

I dunno, but if I were you guys I wouldn't believe the Prince of Lies.

I agree. As religions go, this one seems to be a good one.
It’s not really a religion. Most Satanists are secular. In fact this is basically identical to the ideological beliefs of secular humanism.

Why is it eery?

What’s gonna happen if you do? Satan’s not real anyway. Seems kinda weird to vow off buying anything made by one.

Inventing things like angels or "anti-angels" ---like Satan, is a childish way of ducking accountability for evil.
We...the human race, ARE both the "gods" and "satans", there is no magical mysterious red dude with a pitchfork and a tail, just as there is no gigantic white bearded old man who lives in the sky.
It is WE who create both good and evil, from our minds.

And when we "throw" blame to some giant grinning red guy with a pitchfork, it's like a three year old blaming their tricycle for wetting the bed.

How many Satanists do?

Fairly sure most of that was fearmongering from religious history.

Essentially, yes.

The Satanic Temple are atheist political trolls who use the tenets of Christians against them to defend the separation of church and state because christian cannot deny the existence of Satan without denying a core concept of their own religion. By doing so Satanism must be given equal time with any Christian endorsement in government and that is the last thing that evangelicals will accept, so they back down. Its a brilliant strategy.

Well this thread is really funny I think.

Satan (sorry to offend those just really bought in on organized religion) is simply another mythical figure. The beauty of mythical figures is that you can attach to them any tenet and quality or failing that you wish to attach to them. Of course, those dedicated to following a particular mythical figure are going to attach favorable tenets to said mythical figure.

All this really means is that Satanism is no different, no better, no worse than any other organized "religion" of a sort. Its all about the same speed as VooDoo.

Earth to followers of organized religion: You all belong in the same pot which I would be as happy bringing to a full boil as doing anything else with it because none of you can keep your mythical figures to yourselves. You absolutely insist on to one degree or another shoving them and the concepts you associate with your following down everybody else's throats.

I would say that of the popular religions, the Jews come closest to just minding their own damned business. The are just being Jews. It is that very Jewishness that gains them such distain from the rest. But they are LIKE IT OR NOT, for the most part trying to mind their own business.

I myself am an X-Catholic, not a lapsed Catholic but an X-Catholic. Never going back and not currently casting about for an organized religion that might find favor with me. Have looked at just about all of them. For my money, you can keep them all.

I would resist the temptation to compare anything about Satanism to Modernism. Satanists follow yet another mythical figure. Modernists adhere to a set of principles. NOT THE SAME THINGS.

Satanic designer of what?

Satanic designer of what?
The questionable line of LGBTQ clothing at Target stores. One of the designers is a Satanist and he's raising hell because Target pulled his line after complaints from customers.

Are Satanists who don't follow their own tenets hypocrites?

"Of course....Of course......Satanist supporters of Transgenders and gays and lesbians and Democrat pedos that drink babies blood. It all fits....It all fits....Praise the Lord it all fits" 🙀

Yeah, I don't think he's a satanist any more than I am. I think he's an atheist.

And the clothes were fine until the RWNJ's started throwing a fit.

I think your answer comes from literal definition of satanism and the connotative baggage Christians have dumped into the same cargo bin of that plane before lift-off

Are Satanists who don't follow their own tenets hypocrites?
That's what the word means, yes.
Then I'm sure a lot of them are hypocrites.

I'm sure you're in great position to judge that. /s

This can be, and should be, condensed.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
The Golden Rule.

I wonder about the 'need' to create a list to compete with other religious lists like the so-called ten commandments.
