So the D's finally have a short term plan

I hardly see it as a "waste of time" to do what they can to keep extremists away from the department of justice, education etc

He does the work of three normal CEO types on a bad day.

You walked right into that one didn't ya...

normal CEOs don't go bankrupt 6x

1-2x maybe

Also you can not say that the R's would have been a problem because 1) THe R's did not filibuster in 08 when they had that tool, 2) the R's at the time generally said that the custom that Presidents get to pick their team unless extraordinary circumstances should hold and 3) they did not during Obama's term use the other tools that they had to be a roadblock to getting cabinet picks confirmed as D's have pledged to do with Trump.

Your argument is thus obliterated.

But you made up a bunch of stuff. The D's can't filibuster, but what the Republicans are demanding is at least committee votes before the nominees have passed background and ethics evaluations. Democrats should hold very firm on that, and I think they'll have the public on their side. They also can force real hearings, and I also don't have a problem with that. What they can't do ultimately is block the nominees, so Trump will get who he wants assuming the GOP holds together, but I don't have a problem with democrats making sure they pass the normal ethics hurdles and have legitimate hearings, as opposed to rubber stamp votes.

The "tools" the Democrats are promising to use are longstanding Senate norms and traditions, that letter from McConnell that Shumer turned around to him is hilarious and on point, AND after it's all over, Trump WILL get all his nominees.

I understand your frustration with trump after the miserable day his twittergate had .

You sound like Obama, with him failure tends to be because the propaganda machine was faulty, it is rarely/never that the ideas are bad.

But then he is really bad at this game.

Chuck Schumer and his lot have obviously forgotten that they have 2 dozen Senate seats to defend in '18. Being obstructionist morons will only make that task harder.

How did being "obstructions morons" hurt the GOP in elections?

How do you like McConnell's rules of unanimous obstruction being used against him, though DEMs are at least transparent versus the translucent GOPs .

It certainly puts all the McConnell shuck & jive regarding non-vetting of Trump cabinet members firmly up McConnell's arse. But will the Democrats get behind that and more. I sincerely doubt it.

I remain a Bernie fan.

tds--trump deflection sickness--remains at epidemic levels on DP.

They're still bashing Bernie, Hillary and Obama on trump-content threads.

They're actually now saying they worked with Obama.

And they know their voters don't give a **** how much they lie to them .

I dont even need to go into that because "work" and "results" are to completely different things.

Good following along.

NOT

No they wont, because the R's are going to trust that they working with Trump is going to get work done, and that they will be rewarded for working at the ballot box. The R's are going to be a unified front under the leadership of Trump, and they will mostly stay loyal, because if they dont Trump and his allies will punish them greatly. Already Congressional R's have learned to keep their yaps shut in public.

Trump posse browbeats Hill Republicans - POLITICO

Awwww, you think the GOP leadership is all going to fall in line under trump or else, my, my, my you do have surprises ahead. FYI they have already said No to trump, or did you miss it. They control the purse strings and as such trump will need top work with the Congress, they do not work for him, you might want to come to the realization.
As for the Dems and their silly agenda, not gonna happen, they can point out what they see wrong with his selections and Repubs might even turn one or two away, rarely does any President get all their nominations. I say let the Repubs and trump run with it, then whatever happens it belongs to them and them alone, be it for the Good or for the Bad. I like responsibility being put where it belongs, we are about to see if Republicans agree with that train of thought.

That went out the window when the elite proved that they will go the the ends of the Earth to stop The Rebellion as best they can.

The head of the Office of Government Ethics, the federal agency charged with investigating the backgrounds of Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees, told Senate Democrats on Saturday that the process of vetting Trump’s picks is overwhelming the agency.

"Wont" very often gets renamed "cant" with these assholes....no excuses, get the work done, delays will not be tolerated, excuses will not be believed.

Succeed/Fail is the new coin of the realm.

The Elite best get on with understanding.

The people are already pissed.

This letter from McConnell to Reid tells it all--thanks Risky.

What it proves is that the GOP had a better messaging machine for the last 8 years.

The smearing of Sen. Schumer and other DEM leaders is well under way.

Btw, Bernie has a town hall at 9:00 tonight if you want to tape it.

With the help of trump's twittergate and the GOP congress already reaching too far, DEMs just need to stay active on prime time media preparing for Nov. 6 .

I just have to ask who the hell is doing the scheduling for Bernie. I doubt living where he does he cares about college football, but there are 10s of millions who otherwise MIGHT watch who will be tuned to the national championship game. :(

Just shows how far behind the GOP messaging machine the DEMs are.

The GOPs have budgeted tens of millions for the hearings and especially the SCOTUS nomination .

The assholes are the trump nominees who haven't provided necessary documents.

You know, like DEM nominees had to do 8 years ago .

I don't see democrats being able to do anything to block Trump's nominations. They bit themselves in the ass in 2013.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_option#Events_of_November_2013
On November 21, 2013, the Senate voted 52-48, with all Republicans and 3 Democrats voting against, to eliminate the use of the filibuster against all executive branch nominees and judicial nominees other than to the Supreme Court. At the time of the vote there were 59 executive branch nominees and 17 judicial nominees awaiting confirmation.[SUP][59][/SUP]

McConnell was talking about how Obama's nominees sailed through in the early days.

McConnell is a blatant and irrational liar who was a GOP first and American second the last eight years.

It's great to be able to think for myself while watching sports.

Remember the GOP sabotage of ACA in late 2013 and early 2014?

The crooked GOP congress of 2017 can't figure out what to do with repeal and REPLACE.

DEMs need to treat the GOP the same way they got treated .

I don't have a clue how that's responsive to my comments.

And of course one big reason for the 'delay' is the transition team normally does a lot of the vetting before the election of potential candidates and if not works like heck to get the paperwork in order right after, and Trump's team did NEITHER. So the delay is Trump's fault, and of course you're blaming the people who are tasked with doing the review instead of the people who dumped a massive pile of stuff on some VERY complicated nominees to vet, at the last possible minute, and a Congress that's demanding hearings before those reviews are completed.

"Your paperwork is not in order so we cant do anything (or this is going to take a VERY long time)" is the oldest dodge in town.

Of course you reject the argument because you're committed to Dear Leader, and Dear Leader is always right! Whether or not his nominees have even YET completed their paperwork is irrelevant and no excuse for them not having already sailed through the ethics review!

Sen. McConnell would like to disagree with you from Feb. 2009 .

The difference is those people that were obstructing President Obama ran on and we're voted in for that reason. The reason Republicans are in the position they are in was largely on the rejection of President Obama's policies. If the Democrats obstruct they will risk losing ground in states that flipped to Trump. It could lead to even further losses so the Democrats are in a really really bad position. This isn't counting all the lunacy from the left after the election, and a potential split among liberals over free speech. Unfortunately a single bad tweet could likely turn this all around, Trump could very well be either the best thing to happen to Democrats or a complete nightmare it's going to be an interesting 4 years.

if we see the continuation of the whining, crying and breath holding during the hearings, its not going to look good for democrats.

the last thing the people want is a showdown at the beginning of a presidency.

First of all, the suggestions by Trump supporters of what Democrats should do is very helpful. I'm sure they'll take those suggestions very seriously!

Futhermore, many of "the people" have already quit paying attention. For those still paying attention, I can't see completed ethics reviews followed by thorough hearings, with the promise of ALL of Trump's nominees getting through if the GOP holds together, will be much of a problem for anyone.

In 2018 all of the D's in newly flipped red states are in a very dire situation, If any of them oppose him I have little doubt he will blast them on Twitter for his supporters to make sure they do not get reelected. I'm curious to see how the Democrats are going to play this knowing that kind of threat over them. Do they work with Trump and risk getting ostracized from their own party, or try to block him and risk losing their position.
