So, the Democrats Won. What Now?

My friend wrote this and called it correctly. Trump the joke

Sure blame Biden for the inflationary environment, because it's convenient for you to do so. But, as I called back in Oct 2020 everything Trump was doing led us to this exact moment. I also predicted his policy would result in America looking like his Taj Mahal. 1). Massive tax cuts for 1% and large corporates 2). Printed 22% of all money in circulation in 2020 3). Failed TRADE WAR - remember that? Who's paying for the tariffs now? Maybe why we can't make chips either? 4). Publically pressured/bullied the FED to not raise interest rates back in 2019, which they should have been raised by at .50. But, sure it's Biden's fault.
Hardly failed.... we need to be a LOT tougher on CHina they have shown us all that they intend to win the cold war the are now engaged in against us, and we are "ok, same old same old"

they are playing the long game and well, frankly, when they own your asses, don;t tell me I didn;t try to warn you.

Yes it was. I stopped there. Funny that you said it first. Looks like you and that @Jay59 guy need to get your talking points straight.
This country has never had a true left wing party. They need to be too inclusive to get the numbers.

By doing... what? You sure are long on bumper stickers, but short on ideas.
laying off cheap plastic crap they sell, getting more access to rare earth items, defying them in any way possible and pulling manufacturing of critical items somewhat back to our country.

for starters.

laying off cheap plastic crap they sell,
And how in the world do you propose we do that? Gonna give everyone raises? Not realistic.

defying them in any way possible
Not even an answer.

It's a lot easier to say than it is to argue it, isn't it? Not trying to dog on you or anything, but I think maybe you just ran into the brick wall that the US government realizes is there

excuse me? there is plenty of answer there... let them know Taiwan is off limits, refuse to let chinese companies buy on US soil, etc, etc, etc...

if we don't fight an economic war now, because the rich globalists want to make more money , its just going to be harder in the future when they own us.

its so obvious how they future is going to unravel that anything else is idiocy at this point.

if we are so dependent on china that we cannot do without their plastic shit then we are already to the point of being *******.

can you really not see that?

if we continue to let our debt grow and let china mess with us like this, then we are in a death spiral.

There is your REAL THREAT to Democracy.

What is being a lot “tougher” on China mean to you? Tariffs? How much more do we want to screw ourselves? China has a ton of their own issues and they have quality not quality when it comes to their military.
Nationalism strengthened China around the world, yea Trump did.

let them know Taiwan is off limits,
Already done.

refuse to let chinese companies buy on US soil
Not realistic. We rely on China to buy America goods as well. You just bankrupted possibly a million or more Americans.

No. China's economy will continue to develop, and their wages will rise and their population will demand an increasingly higher standard of living. Their goods will become more expensive.

Basically, you are suggesting things that would case great economic pain to middle and lower earners. That would crash our economy and harm our national security.

Economics are a force of nature.

China relies on us.

As for the debt: unless you have a plan to de-lobotomize half the country and convince them to stop shilling for rich people and corporations, that isn't changing anytime soon either.

Tarrifs dont screw us, we can buy stuff elsewhere. Being tougher means being outspoken about their many violations of international law, getting alliances to isolate them, blocking their activites around the world.

But what are Dems going to do about it now that they lost?

Republicans were poised to celebrate a blowout but Democrats pulled the upset. It was not a big win, because Republicans will control the House, but a clear win nonetheless.

What now. With no working margin on either side of Congress, new legislation is unlikely. Judging from history, the only things like to occur are spending cap related.

Economically, the COVID bounceback is over and the COVID hangover has set it. Global supply problems abound due to failed businesses and the war in Ukraine. In USA we had a real GDP recession for the first half of this year and runaway inflation making an unusual pairing of economic opposites. Food and heating costs are leading the way making this winter particularly harsh for the middle class and poor. In spite of having no real influence, Democrats will absorb much of the blame for that. Calls of obstructionism are old and tired.

If 2023 looks bleak economically, 2024 looks better regardless of what anyone does. The real question is how much things turn around and how fast. So, Democrats will not have to run against the economy though it may not actually help. Also, primary season could be very different economically from election season.

So, what do we do next?

We need to stop the cheating and hate.

GOP has the house now. Are they going to tackle these issues?

Maybe. Foreign policy is usually the Presidents job though, with oversight and support from congress. With the Senate having more power due to confirmation of apointees. So democrats lost, now what? Bidens over shaking hands with Xi, and ignoring all the issues. Will Democrats loss change anything?

Already done.

What stuff will you buy elsewhere? Words and more dumb words that was Trump.

Since you can't name one single example, how will you know when it has been stopped?

I agree.

Out of sight, out of mind.

When the brainwashing and propaganda stop.

What now?

The GOP clown show House AGAIN. as to governance. They have no ideas. They could not construct reasoned legislation if their lives depended on it.

Republicans in the Senate however are already acting like they at least know the name of the truck that ran them over.

A Bill codifying same sex marriage passed the Senate today in the lame duck session so fast it would make your heads spin. The Bill is going to fly past the 60 vote threshold.

Here IMO is what actually happened in the mid-terms. While the big point of apparent interest was Inflation and the Economy just as many of us have been saying, nobody with a brain can really blame Biden and the DEM's for Inflation and the Post Pandemic US Economy is bustling along when compared to other Post Pandemic Economies around the world. In other words, Inflation and the Economy was a push for people as they voted. It was not a distinctively GOP winning issue. However, Republicans died on the hill of Dobbs and Roe and the chances of the GOP trying to pass a national ban on abortion and attack other issues of reproductive rights and attack same sex marriage.

When people actually got behind that curtain in a voting booth, they voted the Dobbs decision, the GOP's complicity in the SC having overturned Roe. The GOP was the dog that caught the car and ended up trapped in the wheel well and dragged down the street. Worse for the GOP, they have no way out of that wheel well. They are trapped there and will be dragged down the road till they are ground to dust.

By a thread bare margin with no Nancy Pelosi to guide their drunken clown car down the road. Yeah Republicans took the House and have no idea what to do with it. They will end up lucky not to damage themselves permanently via mismanagement of their new hobby horse.

There is a word for this: DELUSION

Both sides are saying that.

This was an upset.

Back in July, there was talk of another 2010 election.
