So a guy from Singapore cant own an app in the US but China owns 380K acres of farmland in the US. Well that makes sense to the left.

Read a piece last week the author of which I've forgotten where he suggested that Trump deliberately picked Canada and Greenland because they are both baby's milk on the world stage. No one is going to go to war over either, he figures.

You can bet on the fact he will send troops to Greenland as part of "threat neutralization program" and get away with it. He will then demand sub marine bases in Canada, re-igniting the 1950's "No Nukes"debate that damn near tore the country apart (when VP Nixon was driving the need to bring Canada into nuclear nightmare)

He's a bully. Bully's always know the weakest spot of the weakest opponent and target that.
Well, troops to Greenland might well involve NATO Article 5, and he can demand in one hand and crap on the other, as the saying goes.
If he thinks Canada is a pushover, 'babies milk', he hasn't read a word of history. Actual history, not the pap fed to American teenagers to make them proud and loyal. Canada punches way above it's weight when it's time to punch, and has never been defeated. Ever. Also, Canada has the global cachet that means that Trump getting military on us would be basically declaring war on the world.

Canada owns more US land than China. I think they have a nefarious plot to make poutine the national dish.

Some of those lands are very close to military facilities.

In 2021, a Chinese company bought land near an Air Force base in Grand Forks, N.D., sending lawmakers into a frenzy.

Lawmakers feared that China, which many policymakers view as a strategic adversary even though it's the country's top trading partner outside North America, could gain control over the U.S. food and energy supply, as well as a hold on markets and critical infrastructure.

The left are so culpable in the systematic destruction of everything this country was supposed to be. Freedom of speech all but gone.
Nonsensical bullshit.

I know its really old news but this site doesnt allow tiktok vids to upload? Ahhh censorship under the guise of NATIONAL SECURITY.

There was no censorship.

And what pray tell does "the left" have to do with Chinese buying land in the USA?

And who really cares?

Hold your horses.

Gerald Ford created CFIUS, the committee that oversees such transactions in 1975. Ford, Carter, Reagan and HW Bush all contributed to CFIUS' mission with Bush having the most notable set of standards used today by allowing the Exon-Florio amendment to a defense bill that covered various security concerns like selling land to foreign entities. Clinton, W Bush, Obama and Trump (in his first administration) did nothing to change any of it. That also includes the whole of Congress during that span of time. So, in a general sense, it wasn't just the left...it was everybody. So, generally speaking, if you want to point fingers, then you point it at everyone,

Now, we all know you won't do that. It goes against the agenda to do so. But you do have to explain something about Trump's first term.

Trump started a trade war with China in his first term. So, why didn't he go to Congress, or try an EO or at least verbalize concern that CFIUS didn't have the right protocols in place when he engaged in a trade with China? Would that not be one of the first things you do when you engage in a trade war is to cover for such problems? So, why didn't he?

Canada has always been the best, most reliable ally any country could have. We've shed blood all around the world to defend causes that were never ours because we respect what the term 'ally' represents.
And we have respect all around the world for it. Trump will find out that his rejection of our alliance isn't in a vacuum. We have trade agreements all around the world, too.

Aren't you sort of obligated to defend our causes because we're the only thing standing between you and hostile countries to your west?

No.
because we're the only thing standing between you and hostile countries to your west?
Geography and NATO stand between us and hostile countries to the west.

The only real threat we face is the hostile country to the south.

I am certain Canadians don't tremble at the sound of foreign voice especially Trumps.

Canada is an Ally
China is kinda an Enemy

Hope that clears it up.

Pay attention. Canada sheds blood for other countries, including the USA. America has never fought on our behalf and never will. America is nobodies ally.
That's just pap they tell you in high school to make you proud and loyal.

@Theowl32 how about getting your butt back here and explaining wtf you're talking about.

On many occasions I traveled from Houston to the Toronto area on work assignments and always worked with the best of the best. They are great people.

When we have enough land we're going to redeem it for Florida.
You can have Florida free of charge.....and we'll throw in Texas if you take it.

I just had a look and the US is 2.43 billion acres.

I think the US farming industry might just survive China owning 380k acres.

Well, only a handful of comments so far but hoped one of them would explain the title and also how the linked read is connected to the claim about the role of "the left" & Singapore.
I think the idea is that, in the OP's mind, the left is the source of everything stupid and evil in the world, so that's where the idea of letting the Chinese buy that much land here in the U.S. must come from. This leftist thinks it's only a good idea if we're planning one day to seize it back from them, shortly after cancelling all the debt we have to them...but if that's not the strategy, yeah, we should not allow Chinese companies, government entities, or private investors to own that much land here.

Have you ever heard of high-tech monitoring or horseless carriages? Unbelievable!!!!!

Which can be done regardless of owning farm land.

Heck owning a house can do it. Or a truck that moves around. Having land which can have a drone fly over searching for EM fields is a sure way to get found out

We still don't know what app a Singaporean can't own 🤷
