That's usually the same with the Yanks, they don't heat up till just after, but this season they're coming out swinging.I don't pay attention to the Texas Rangers till after the allstar break

They are pretty hot right now, it's just to maintain and keep guys rested and healthy. That's the funny thing about baseball, it's the only sport I can think of where the end of the season is more important than the beginning, i.e. heating up at the right time. That is usually when the Rangers fall flat on their faces.

I''m a hockey fan as well, but baseball is my game, my only turn off to the hockey playoffs is the amount of teams that qualify, you have to be truly horrendous to miss the NHLps, but it is good for fans of teams that are right on the fence performance wise. Interleague is easily one of my favorite parts of the MLB season, I love the dynamic management shifts that have to take place because of the conflicting rules, it makes for some real sports drama.I won't really start following baseball till the hockey playoffs are done, but I think it is going to be a fun season. Interleague play starting, yay!
I hear you on unexpected, almost all of the baseball conventions are being tossed, it's getting really exciting.Speaking of unexpected, tonights Tigers broadcast has Dan Petry doing color commentary. Very pleasant surprise.
Baseball in Chicago sux this year. Neither team can hit a lick.
The pigskin party can't come soon enough.
I gotta admit, LaRussa can always squeeze more out of an average team than any other manager in baseball.I didn't know Chicago had any baseball teams. :2razz:
Go Cardinals!

Couldn't agree more, I like the Cards, but am a Yankee die hard, still, I'll give credit when it's due. This is very true.

I forgot all about that one, good play.Remember this commercial from 2004?
He Can Hit Anything!
This is my favorite recent Albert moment - last Thursday (5/21) Albert hits a solo homerun, and knocks out the "I" in Bic Mac Land!

Okay, so I thought this particular baseball season was starting off kind of mild. Of course, it has three fantastic years prior to live up to, what with Tampa, the Phillies, and the Rockies making not only the playoffs, but World Series (two of which never saw this before) the Texas Baltimore game that duplicated a 100+ year record, etc.
Here is where it is starting to get interesting. The AlC is knotted up, there is a three-way dogfight brewing in the ALE, and the ALW isn't a runaway laugher yet, we have had at least five teams this season use position players for bullpen duty. And two pre-game schedule mixups in a weeks time, including the AL-champion Rays, the Ray mixup meant an AL pitcher also had to hit while he was active in game(no DH in the American League!?).
The NL, not to be outdone, had an Astros line-up mixup that created an out of order hit and the offending team wonshock , the NL is closer than it's been in years, and we're still only in May.
We've lost some legends and the Angels have suffered a tradgedy, so of course there are some downsides to this, and lets not forget the Ramirez suspension and the Arod steroid admission, but overall I think this is going to be an epic season after all. Any thoughts?
You da man!Long sentences and no spacing between them makes for difficult reading.
I helped you out a little here.
Milwaukee started out bad, but then kicked some real ass. They seem like they have lost some of that passion lately though. The loss of Weeks was a hard hit on their team.
I think they may still pull off a playoff spot though.
