Simple question, what is the cause of so much criticism of Trump.

Why is there SO MUCH criticism of Trump?

Mostly, Trump deserves the criticism. But there is also a knee-jerk tendency of Democrats to exaggerate and overcommit to any symbolic action, to try to keep their constituents from noticing that the money behind them won't tolerate very much real-world action. For example, the AI counts nine different policies that Biden could have enacted during his term, but which were instead put through late enough that Trump could easily rescind them. Giving Democrats the opportunity to indulge their favorite pastime, namely whining. There are only so many times a person can put up with hearing how they're going to make a constitutional amendment to do this or that or (only when they don't have the Senate votes) pack the Supreme Court or (only when they don't have a majority) repeal the filibuster... most of the time, they are playing to lose! Even when they get a chance to do something like end the corrupt practice of money bail, they find a way to overdo it (by abandoning the risk assessment that was used during the successful pilot work in Kentucky). They do this knowing that the sabotaged program will eventually outrage people enough to be nixed in its entirety, allowing them the precious opportunity to do ... yeah, more whining.

I don't know that I agree with that

higher education doesn't mean less cultism - I think the Democrat party proves that with their bowing to Kamala

Hi Cat,

So I tried to back-up my statement with numbers and discovered that you are correct that higher educated people are MORE susceptible to become a cult member. I am really surprised. So I admit defeat on religion/cult. But I can back up the numbers on education and democrats.... I almost always confirm my posts with numbers if I can. Even if I not write them down in the post. So today we learned that 'almost' is not good enough.

Anyways, that leaves us with one disagreement I think. Are either the Dems or the reps a cult?

There recently was a thread here on DP about exactly that. I remember that I argued that MAGA is not a cult but a political movement instead. I personally feel that MAGA shows more trademarks of cultism than the democratic party does but they are not cults, neither of them. I do feel very strongly though that by definition, all political parties have an aspect of cultism in them, but that does not make it necessarily a cult of course.

You would expect the Democrat media to be critical. For 10 years negative coverage is consistently 95% or higher. I would be concerned if MSNBC or CNN started praising Trump. One of Trumps great strengths is to tune out the noise

Hi Eriech,

Negative coverage is always prevalent during a period with a lack of positive news. The only positive thing that will ever be reported about Trump will be his funeral.

Really? Noise? Yeah! We had a president that was good at filtering out noise! Mind you most people refer to that as a person who has a steel plate in front of his head. Not sure that qualifies as a good strength, But hey, at least you have 1 than.

Trump.

He brings a lot on himself - insisting on the limelight, reveling in controversy and chaos.

Hi uptower,

Yes, but he does it on purpose, because this is ultimately what won him the election. And he knows that.

problem is what if it doesn't fail and works ? low inflation, lower interest rates, low unemployment, navigating around wars, secure border ....

that's bad bad bad for Democrats in 2028

Hi Cat,

I hope it will work. That would be great! I mean that. But it won't work. Sorry. The only way he may make it look like it appears it works if he dramatically increases the national debt. With only 3.5 years to go this looks like a possibility on the surface, but I know too little about how to raise the debt ceiling to say something substantial about this.

But the very premise of his economics is not supported by science (math, accounting...) Look at Norway, that's how a country should manage it's finances. A massive budget surplus and still have money left to install heating in public streets so the snow melts in the winter, and other ridiculous projects like that. You're country is in virtual lock-down when 3 snowflakes arrive. @SNOWFLAKE And I did not mean Canadians... Lol.

Well he's been doing it longer than that. Sure I think he understands it has won for him sometimes (and lost sometimes too), but it's all him and he wouldn't be able to just turn it off if he "had' to.

We can deal with snowflakes, the "snowflakes" south of the border can't ;)

Hi Snowflake,

Seen it first-hand in Montreal. 50cm of snow over night. Wake up and the road is clean. 3 times in 1 week. Absolutely incredible how you guys do that.

And now you're showing it again when you're dealing with southern snowflakes. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Hi Cat,

I actually agree with you here. But for the wrong reasons. I am so confident that Trumps policies will fail that I would understand the democrats quickening the process if they would consider Trumps failure a win. But apparently they think the price is still too high. The democrats rather keep him in power than let him fail now. Ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but you're getting my drift I think.

???????

Please access your local library. A short book: Understanding the principles of the US constitution and How Democracy works.

in NO scenario is the Democratic Party responsible for Trump being in power

There is SO much criticism of Trump, in the fake news media, in the leftist leaning of forums like this one. We should be talking about the failure that was Joe Biden's presidency instead of always picking on Donald Trump.

BUT why is there THIS much criticism of Trump?

Poll choices above and you can make up your own "theories."
Of course Trump deserves criticism for the stupid things he says in pursuit of political power. Everyone knows that.
My own observable theory is that many posters come here to vilify Trump because they are bleeding-heart Liberals who simply don't like Trump because:
a) he doesn't give a shit about climate change hysteria
b) his immigration policies offend those who believe open borders are better than closed borders.
c) he supports Israel to the extent he wants to destroy Iran's nuclear capability to obliterate Israel.
d) they don't like that he is a narcissist who does not deserve to be as rich and famous as he is with a beautiful wife and occupying the most powerful position in the entire world.. and
e) they really wanted to see a Liberal, Progressive, female, Asian, Black, California politician become the most famous female politician in the world.
What a coup that might have been. We were spared that as a nation last November.
f) and lastly, Trump is a transactional politician who believes WOKE and bullshit DEI policies are NOT good for this country.

Basically, they despise Trump because he has figured out twice! what the majority of voters want in a president and how to defeat his opponents in how to get it.

There are a lot of things about Trump that irritates certain people. But the main reason so many people hate him is because he dared to stand up to the leftists.

Prior Republicans tried to get along with the left, which got them exactly nothing but more derision. Prior Republicans were also too cowardly to stand up to the left, because they would be falsely be called racists and such. At one time, if you were labeled a racist, you would be cancelled and could lose your job and place in society. Since Trump, the insult "racist" has been so overused and misused that it has lost any sting that it once had.

He's a fat corrupt clown that is incapable of thinking anything through.

My own observable theory is that many posters come here to vilify Trump because they are bleeding-heart Liberals
Well, to be honest, I would rather be a bleeding heart liberal than one of those small-minded, crass conservatives who feel the need to call liberals bleeding hearts to make up for the fact they have no hearts themselves.
they don't like that he is a narcissist who does not deserve to be as rich and famous as he is with a beautiful wife
Well, you got one point right, he is a narcissist. As for the beautiful wife, I imagine you believe she actual cares about him. I mean, I expect you would tell me that you HONESTLY believe that. I have a beautiful wife too, but not a plastic made up one, and I rather her than a gold digger. But since you measure a man by how rich and famous he is, and how he has a bought and paid for wife, I would rather honor a man who ISN'T a narcissist. But hey, if that is who you want to idolize, knock yourself out.
they really wanted to see a Liberal, Progressive, female, Asian, Black, California politician become the most famous female politician in the world.
Don't know what that rant is about, other than you don't like liberals, progressives, females, Asians, blacks or California politicians.
Well I don't particularly like uneducated, nasty and snarky, weak-minded, and insecure hillbillies. SO I guess we are even.
and lastly, Trump is a transactional politician who believes WOKE and bullshit DEI policies are NOT good for this country.
WOW, just WOW. Other than using words like Woke and DEI to feed his mindless minions, he has no idea what is good for the country. I know this concept might well be beyond your comprehension, but believe me when I say this........... He cares about Trump, not you, not me, not the person beside you. If you REALLY believe he gives a rat's ass about you, well there is a word for that kind of thinking.............

Delusional:

adjective

  1. having false or unrealistic beliefs or opinions.
  2. Psychiatry. maintaining fixed false beliefs even when confronted with facts

Now having posted all that, I know from our past encounters, you will get very upset and try to drag me into a back n forth, but seriously, you expect me to want to get into a back n forth with someone who idolizes a jackass like Trump??

You wrote: "conservatives who feel the need to call liberals bleeding hearts to make up for the fact they have no hearts themselves."
You're right. Years ago I left my heart in San Francisco after watching bleeding heart Liberals ruin that city for so many Northern Californians.
I have no animosity toward you.
By your own admission, you're a Crazy Canuck who loves throwing rocks at the most powerful politician in the world heading up the most powerful country in the world.
And, if you were in this country illegally, I would be in favor of offering you due process before deporting you back to your country of origin.
That's how magnanimous I am toward our cousins in the North.

And we have a good sense of humor and aren't easily triggered by anti-Trump threads. Hell, we weren't even triggered by anti-Trudeau threads and there were plenty of them. We don't keep our shorts permanently tied in knots.

So, getting back to what I said before...........
but seriously, you expect me to want to get into a back n forth with someone who idolizes a jackass like Trump??

The floor is yours. ;)

This is like asking why people didn't like Ted Bundy after he was found guilty of a whole bunch of murders.

I don't like Trump because of how he treats everyone around him and his actions.
He's a complete tosser.

Joey

would you consider it a success if Trump continues adding the average yearly $$$$ to the national debt that Obama/Trump/Biden all got going ?

Trump is by no means prefect or beyond criticism ! There are many things he has done that deserve strong criticism!

But the lies and Propaganda against him is bad for America. Because many people don't even know what's really going on most of the time.

The Political Status Quo & Media HATE trump because he is NOT A POLITICIANS that can be handled.
He is the most Transparent President what have had in over 100 years ! He has exposed to ALL AMERICANS
how the Ruling Political Class STEALS YOUR TAX MONEY and get rich doing so ! Which has NEVER BEEN DONE in
such an open way.
