Right-wing lawyer Sidney Powell is claiming in a new court filing that reasonable people wouldn't have believed as fact her assertions of fraud after the 2020 presidential election.

In news that will come as a surprise to absolutely no one except members of Trump supporters who were stupid enough to believe all the idiotic lies about voter fraud in the 2020 election:

Washington (CNN)Right-wing lawyer Sidney Powell is claiming in a new court filing that reasonable people wouldn't have believed as fact her assertions of fraud after the 2020 presidential election.
The election infrastructure company Dominion Voting Systems sued Powell for defamation after she pushed lawsuits and made appearances in conservative media on behalf of then-President Donald Trump to sow doubt about the 2020 election results. Dominion claims that Powell knew her election fraud accusations were false and hurtful to the company.

Sidney Powell has moved to dismiss Dominion's defamation lawsuit. She argues that when she accused Dominion of being part of an election-rigging scheme with ties to Venezuela, "no reasonable person would conclude" those "were truly statements of fact"

And this forum was full of posts by gullible Trump supporters who took Powell at her word.

We had people trying to physically stop Congress from certifying the election results partly on the basis of Powell's public statements.

A huge fraction of the U.S. population believed this crap.

....as are people that believed Trump..... the problem is that we have more idiots walking among us than is healthy for a functioning democracy. We are living in an era of lunacy.

What Powell is likely reacting to is the realization that the day of reckoning for her irresponsible actions is close at hand. Powell and Guilliani are likely facing professional sanctions or even having their licenses pulled.

His whole presidency was fundamentally a fraud. Of course he surrounded himself with 'experts' on the subject.

The fact is that Dominion is only suing her at the behest of partisan political groups who want to bury their opponents under litigation.

What she's actually done is admitted that she promoted a lie, and knew its falsity. As a matter of law, she just screwed herself. As a passing matter, this is malpractice. Fortunately her client doesn't care.
 
... so some people are saying that she is lying to the courts, about having lied about Dominion, so... the truth is still out there and the jury is out?

We have to do better.
